Donna Sockell

I am proud to introduce the first monthly e-newsletter from the Center for Education on Social Responsibility (CESR). The pace of our progress and the growing interest in CESR from local and even global friends and supporters have led to a demand for information that cannot be filled by a semi-annual update! I would like to thank Colleen Seltz and Marilyn Decalo for dragging me into the high tech world of modern communications and for leading the design and launch of this newsletter.

I am happy to report that the semester has started off on a great note. Our required classes are filled with eager students, both new and continuing, our elective classes are oversubscribed, and, as always, our extraordinary faculty is embracing the chance to train tomorrow's values-driven, socially conscious leaders. In this issue, you can learn about CESR's exciting developments in new faculty, executive partners, and

the program's extraordinary ratings. Read More...

Leeds School Ranks 21st for
Social Responsibility and Sustainability

Leeds School of Business was ranked 21st among national and international business schools by the Aspen Institute's Beyond Grey Pinstripes, the most watched ranking in the social and environmental business field. According to Dean Ikenberry, the work and mission of CESR played a central role in the Beyond Grey Pinstripes rating.  "As part of our central mission at Leeds, CESR creates pedagogies that are national models and plays a leadership role in operationalizing our commitment to turning out leaders of conscience.  Our own internal measures show that students greatly value this aspect of our school, and student satisfaction with CESR-related programs is high.  Moreover, as I travel to meet with employers, I hear repeatedly how central these core tenants of ethics and responsible corporate behavior have become in society".  Read More...

Connect with CESR on Social Media

In the past six months CESR has exponentially increased our social media presence. Linking with CESR on Facebook and Twitter is a fabulous way to stay connected to what is happening in CESR's world. Announcements, publications, presentations, articles, photos of recent events and highlights of our program are posted regularly. It is a great way to keep in touch as well as to interact as a community. Your thoughts, book recommendations, article sharing and comments are most welcome.

"My Leeds and CESR education manifests itself almost entirely in my worldview and ability to communicate with others. I'm able to talk to my students not only about college and business, but also about the social issues confronting our nation and our world."

CESR Donor Profile
Sam Battan

"Ideally one should start developing a strong moral compass at home at an early age. Ethics and values must  be the cornerstone of any business. Any business that doesn't adhere to the basic rules of integrity and fair dealing will eventually fail. We read examples of this in the news daily."
