Greetings!

Senator Maria Sachs will be speaking on the subject of alimony reform.  Your attendance will help demonstrate how widespread the need for meaningful reform is, and how it negatively affects our families and our futures. Make plans to attend.  A few hours out of your Saturday to make a difference for your lifetime alimony is an opportunity to stand up and be counted.

This is your chance to talk directly with Senator Sachs and learn how we can work together for meaningful alimony reform. Plan To Attend!

When: Saturday, August 25, 2012

Time:  11 am - 2 pm

Place: Palms West Hospital

1st Floor Classroom

13001 Southern Blvd.

Loxahatchee, FL  33470

Please RSVP to: Info@FloridaAlimonyReform.com to assist in planning.

The FAR core group (Alan, Chuck, Debbie, Guido, etc.) will be there as well, bringing you up to date with the latest progress in Florida. We have to be Very Careful with our proposal that there are not unintended negative consequences when it becomes law.  We are still tweaking it.

The alimony reform movement continues to grow around the country.  People are tired of the unfairness of current alimony law and are organizing their efforts. Other states have alimony laws just as ridiculous as Florida's. Change in our current alimony laws is necessary for people to be properly encouraged to better themselves through their personal education, career, or re-marriage, within a reasonable amount of time.

It's only fairness following divorce that we are looking for.  We know the Florida Bar reads the FAR newsletters.  We are happy they do. They must know that our goals are for fairness without lifelong dependency. For helping the lesser income producing spouse to receive an education, enter a career, or re-marry within a reasonable time.

The only reason not to want to update our laws is a conscious decision to prefer our current adversarial divorce law system.  Yes, it increases litigation and billable hours, but at what price to our families and our society? This system results in driving families even farther apart emotionally and financially. Florida's  marriage rate is dropping like a rock. And who blames people for not getting married?  They've seen the results of current divorce law and want no part of it.

Women have come a long way in the last 50 years.  In fact, they have even passed men in many employment statistics. Re-inventing yourself following divorce can be a very rewarding experience for Both Ex-Spouses.  This cannot happen when permanent alimony stunts the emotional growth.  Make no doubt about it.  Permanent alimony stunts personal growth.

PLAN TO ATTEND

Volunteers Needed To Visit Legislators!!!

Alan Frisher

Alimony reform CANNOT and WILL NOT happen with members sitting on the sidelines.  We need EVERY member actively involved in visiting legislators.

With the number of FAR members we currently have, we can strategically influence the House and Senate.

You will not be doing this alone.

The legislative committee is here to assist and in many cases, be with you when you approach your legislator. We have legislative packets and talking points to hand deliver. We need to educate our legislators about the need for reform.

Our experience has shown that once we explain the negative effects that permanent alimony has on the family, children, second families, they see the need for reform.

We have Chapter Leaders across the state divided by counties.  Below please find which chapter you belong to.  Please contact us for volunteering. Let us know the county you reside in and we will match you to the proper Chapter and they will be in contact with you.

Second Wives Club Volunteers Needed

Our legislative committee would like to have additional female volunteers to meet with House Representatives and Senators. We are seeking women who are either alimony payers or married or engaged to permanent alimony payers in order to educate our legislators as to the problems the current laws are causing the citizens of Florida.

Without proper education, our legislators will rely on the opinion of the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar, and that is not where we want our legislators to get their education from. We need people to share their personal stories with their local lawmakers so they understand first-hand the devastation caused by the current permanent alimony laws.

We also need more testimonial videos. Please video your short (2-5 minute) story of why you feel Florida's current alimony laws need updating.  Each of us have reasons that are personal and reasons that are global. Share them.

If you are interested in helping, please emailinfo@floridaalimonyreform.com. Thank you.

What Can You Do To Help?Thanak You

Sometimes it's worth a "refresher" look at how exactly you can help.

Here are a few ways that you can help:

1) We would like to encourage you to sign up as a member (if you have not done so already)  so that we can work together to change the alimony laws. By joining us, we will have one more voice to press legislators to change the laws and you will stay informed on the latest alimony news, including the progress of the Bill. It is very simple to join us:

Go to our website and  type in your email address and then click on the button "Sign Up" and follow the instructions. You will see a page asking to enter your mailing address. It is VERY IMPORTANT that we have your mailing address so that we can know how many FAR members are in each legislative district. We will not share your info with anyone outside of FAR
without your permission.

2) Please write and visit your local legislators and tell them to support FAR's alimony reform efforts. If the legislator is not available, meet with their legislative aid.

On our website, click on the menu item "LEGISLATION"  and then click "Write Your Legislators"  - here you will find links to find
your legislators and a sample letter that you can use.

3) Look out for our emails and make sure to leave comments on the news articles
and stories that we send you.

4) In the newsletters we send out, you will find information about the Committees we have formed throughout the state.
Join one of our committees: Legislative Committee, Educational Committee, or Advertising Committee. All the committees still need volunteers.  This is a Big Mission in a Big State.  From the Panhandle to the Gold Coast, we need volunteers to help change these laws.

5) We understand that a lot of our members are legally pressured and financially stressed.  Please know that it takes a lot of funding to make any significant changes to our unjust alimony laws. If you possibly can, please consider making a donation to our organization. Information on how to donate is also on the website.

6) LIKE and comment on our Facebook Pages:

7) If you're a woman, please Join the Second Wives' Club by contacting Debbie on the Second Wives FB Page.

Our website includes information of all kinds, including information about the current alimony laws and links to the proposed alimony Bills. Please check our website frequently for new articles and the latest information. We look forward to working with you to change the unfair alimony laws.

Contributions Needed  $$$dollars

If we are anticipating great strides in alimony reform in Florida, we will have to pay for them.  Nothing is FREE.

As we complete our 501(c)4 and PAC formation, there must be money in the coffers to contribute to key legislators.

While FAR volunteers are driving all around the state to meet with legislators and other alimony victims, contributing hundreds of hours of work, those of you who are not physically active with alimony reform can help financially.  If everyone who is a member of FAR pays just $15 a month, we  can build up our coffers and be prepared for the battles.

Do the math.  A short term investment to end a Lifelong Debt will give you the greatest ROI in your life!

This will be Temporary Support to help End

Your Permanent Alimony.

Your Contributions are a Wise Investment in Everyone's Future!
