Weekly Newsletter
Greetings!

Primary elections are right around the corner.  Who are you voting for?

This is a great opportunity to have the candidates take a stand:  For or Against Alimony Reform?

Early voting is this week.  Your vote is the one thing the candidates want right now. Make your vote count.  Visit the candidates, call their office or visit them at an event.  Let them hear the words Alimony Reform before they take office.

And if they are an incumbent look at their voting record.  There are many legislators that are Pro Alimony Reform and some that are not.  Check FloridaAlimonyReform.com website to see how your legislators voted last year. We, as citizens, ALSO have the power of the vote. Let's Use It!

FAR Booth at Florida OB-GYN Convention
Alan Frisher
Alan Frisher

I'd like to personally thank Dr. Chris Grevengood for helping to offset the cost of hosting a booth at the annual OBGYN convention in Orlando this past weekend.  Chuck and I were both there handing out literature and speaking with many people about alimony reform.

Representative Ritch Workman, at the last Orlando conference at WMFE, stated "If you have Doctor before your name, you're going to pay alimony."

Well, I have to tell you, he was right.  Many doctors came up to us at the convention with horror stories of their own.  Like many of us, they too are burdened by alimony payments that put enormous stress on their lives.  Think about it, they literally have the lives of their patients in their hands, and on top of that, have to deal with permanent alimony payments that oftentimes stress them out even more.

 SWC  Women Needed!

Our legislative committee would like to have additional female volunteers to meet with House Representatives and Senators. We are seeking women who are either alimony payers or married or engaged to permanent alimony payers in order to educate our legislators as to the problems the current laws are causing the citizens of Florida.

Without proper education, our legislators will rely on the opinion of the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar, and that is not where we want our legislators to get their education from. We need people to share their personal stories with their local lawmakers so they understand first-hand the devastation caused by the current permanent alimony laws.
If you are interested in helping, please email info@floridaalimonyreform.com. Thank you.

Legislative Task Force Needs YOU!

The legislative committee with respective chapter leaders are ready to start visiting legislators after the primaries in August. However, they can't do it alone.

With 120 House seats and 40 Senate seats and elections and redistricting where many seats have challengers or incumbents going up against each other, we need ALL FAR members to participate in canvassing our legislators.

You will not be doing this alone. Our chapter leaders and the legislative committee have put together a Legislative Packet to hand out, talking points and tips on how to approach these meetings.

We need to start educating the legislators about alimony reform in advance of the 2012-2013 session.

Volunteer by contacting us at Info@FloridaAlimonyReform.com or call 352-577-5706 and we will line you up with your respective chapter leader and be placed on the distribution list of future legislative committee meetings and minutes.

This will be time very well spent to help update Florida's alimony laws.

We Are Here To
Get The Job Done!

Our membership continues to grow because we are focused on what is right and are working with the right people to help us change the law.

We need your help to spread the word.

Please tell all your friends and family members to go to the FAR website and become a member.  Ask them to make a small donation because every little bit counts.

And most importantly, speak to your legislators when you see them out and about.  Make certain that they know about the abusive law that ties people together financially when all they want is to get divorced from one another and move on with their lives.

As always, thank you once again for your support.

What Can You Do To Help?Thanak You

Sometimes it's worth a "refresher" look at how exactly you can help.

Here are a few ways that you can help:

1) We would like to encourage you to sign up as a member (if you have not done so already)  so that we can work together to change the alimony laws. By joining us, we will have one more voice to press legislators to change the laws and you will stay informed on the latest alimony news, including the progress of the Bill. It is very simple to join us:

Go to our website and  type in your email address and then click on the button "Sign Up" and follow the instructions. You will see a page asking to enter your mailing address. It is VERY IMPORTANT that we have your mailing address so that we can know how many FAR members are in each legislative district. We will not share your info with anyone outside of FAR
without your permission.

2) Please write and visit your local legislators and tell them to support FAR's alimony reform efforts. If the legislator is not available, meet with their legislative aid.

On our website, click on the menu item "LEGISLATION"  and then click "Write Your Legislators"  - here you will find links to find
your legislators and a sample letter that you can use.

3) Look out for our emails and make sure to leave comments on the news articles
and stories that we send you.

4) In the newsletters we send out, you will find information about the Committees we have formed throughout the state.
Join one of our committees: Legislative Committee, Educational Committee, or Advertising Committee. All the committees still need volunteers.  This is a Big Mission in a Big State.  From the Panhandle to the Gold Coast, we need volunteers to help change these laws.

5) We understand that a lot of our members are legally pressured and financially stressed.  Please know that it takes a lot of funding to make any significant changes to our unjust alimony laws. If you possibly can, please consider making a donation to our organization. Information on how to donate is also on the website.

6) LIKE and comment on our Facebook Pages:

7) If you're a woman, please Join the Second Wives' Club by contacting Debbie on the Second Wives FB Page.

Our website includes information of all kinds, including information about the current alimony laws and links to the proposed alimony Bills. Please check our website frequently for new articles and the latest information. We look forward to working with you to change the unfair alimony laws.

Contributions Needed  $$$dollars

If we are anticipating great strides in alimony reform in Florida, we will have to pay for them.  Nothing is FREE.

As we complete our 501(c)4 and PAC formation, there must be money in the coffers to contribute to key legislators.

While FAR volunteers are driving all around the state to meet with legislators and other alimony victims, contributing hundreds of hours of work, those of you who are not physically active with alimony reform can help financially.  If everyone who is a member of FAR pays just $15 a month, we  can build up our coffers and be prepared for the battles.

Do the math.  A short term investment to end a Lifelong Debt will give you the greatest ROI in your life!

This will be Temporary Support to help End

Your Permanent Alimony.

Your Contributions are a Wise Investment in Everyone's Future!
