Greetings! ,
Happy Father's Day to the many dads who totally love their kids. In spite of difficult circumstances, you have loved your children and tried to teach them honorable values. It hasn't been easy. It's been an interesting adventure for many of you, going through court battles, alimony, and much more, but you hung in there and still love your kids.
What a range of emotions today for alimony paying dads. For some of you, it's been a great day. A day enjoying your children and sharing warm love. Family love is wonderful!
For other alimony paying dads, it's been a much more difficult day. Pick ups and drop offs of children to your ex-spouse are awkward. Many times you don't even want to see your ex-spouse, much less speak with her. The site of your ex-spouse, your old house, the memories of playing with the kids in the yard, etc., and once again looking at the absurdity of our laws re-opens emotional wounds. Today may have been a more challenging day for dads in that situation.
For all of us, thank goodness all emotions are temporary. The dark or empty times will someday end. It will take as long as it takes, but they will end. The downside is the great emotions we have are also temporary. The absolutely super feeling you have doing whatever it is you love to do is also only a temporary feeling. Hang in there!
Our children learn more from what we do than what we say. Live your life, following the values you want your kids to have, and they will eventually see and know the truth. Most times you won't have to say a thing. Your children will figure it out. I believe even the most distant child still watches their parents. Thanks to the thousands of dad's who have been good examples for their children to watch.
From a dad, like you, who also loves his kids, Thank You. I hope you had, or within a few years will have, a Happy Father's Day!!!
And thanks for being involved with FAR and updating Florida's antiquated alimony laws. With your help, we will get it done!
