Greetings!
"Do Not Get Divorced In Florida" is the message we are sending to all Floridians through our Billboard and Facebook Campaigns. Last week 2 Billboards were put up in Tallahassee, which helped generate a WCTV News Report leading to a big jump in the visits to www.FloridaAlimonyReform.com and www.DoNotGetDivorcedInFlorida.com. View the report, then COMMENT! Your opinion counts!!
Thanks to the media coverage, we received an email from an individual with Clear Channel Outdoors who suggested we put billboard up in Tampa during the Republican National Convention (RNC). This representative is very familiar with the pitfalls of Florida's current alimony laws, as she has a family member caught in the alimony trap. If we had funding to put up several well-placed billboards this would be a major opportunity to bring National Attention to the archaic alimony laws of Florida.
This is your opportunity to help make a difference. Shining a bright light on the reality of alimony in Florida will help generate a demand for alimony reform. Florida is way behind most other states with current alimony law. National attention is good.
We know that divorce is big business for family attorneys, and we want to make a statement that affects their income, like they have been affecting the income of divorcing spouses.
Please Contribute. Many small contributions add up. If you can make a 6 month financial commitment of just $20 a month (or more if possible) from everyone, we could be getting special coverage from the news teams at the RNC. This could be Very Big for Meaningful Alimony Reform.

SWC FOX 35 Interview
Debbie Israel, Committee Leader of the Florida Second Wives Club ( a sub-group of FAR) and Suzanne Stewart, a member of the Second Wives Club, appeared on FOX 35 Orlando TV to discuss why permanent alimony is anti-marriage, anti-family, and why permanent alimony is unfair to the alimony payer as well as unfair to the second wives of the alimony payers.
View the interview and comment. Debbie and Suzanne did a super job. After commenting, FORWARD the links to your friends, family, and co-workers. People don't know what they don't know, until they are in divorce court and it's too late!

FAR STATEWIDE MEETING JULY 28TH
FAR will have it's first StateWide conference on July 28th at the studios of WMFE in Orlando. Representative Ritch Workman (who will sponsor the House Bill for alimony reform next year) will be attending. This is an opportunity to ask questions and get a better understanding of what it takes to change a law in Florida.
We have had several smaller meetings this year. Every time we get together, there is a synergistic energy that builds. It's nice to meet people in similar situations, even though those situations may be challenging. Developing friendships and working relationships with other members will speed the alimony reform process.
Please plan to attend. Location: WMFE Studios 11510 East Colonial Drive. Orlando, FL 32817 Time: 11am-2pm
Following the meeting, you are all invited to join us at Bahama Breeze. Rep. Workman will join us and will continue answering questions and tell you about upcoming events you may be interested in.
Many have asked about contributions to Rep. Workman. If you are contributing, Bahama Breeze is the place to do it. Please RSVP to assist us in planning this meeting.
Thanks! |

Is FAR a Non-Profit?
When FAR was formed, we were hitting the ground running as a new organization. Now that we have the time to breath a little during the off-season, we will convert to a 501(c)4. A 501(c)3 is a non-profit corporation and cannot not make political contributions.
A 501(c)4 corporation is a non-profit that CAN make political contributions. Contributions to a 501(c)4 are not deductible.
We will keep you informed as our progress continues.
FAR's quarterly financial statement is available to its members. We will be happy to email you a copy.
If you have ever run a business, you understand how expenses quickly add up. Bringing Florida's Alimony Laws up to date is a monumental task.
It's David and Golaith. FAR has no intention of matching the FL Bar with political contributions. They spend tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars annually supporting politicians on both sides of the isle. They understand the current political process in Tallahassee and want to be remembered when they want a vote on a particular issue.
We also want the politicians to remember us, their constituents, when it is time to cast their vote. We can accomplish this with very strategic campaign contributions, numerous legislative visits, effective media coverage and public pressure on the politicians to bring our alimony laws into the 21st Century.

Support the Legislators that Support FAR
If we are to be effective in Tallahassee, we have to build an organization that will be listened to. The Florida Bar knows about FAR and is concerned. The Truth about current alimony law will certainly cause change in these laws.
Please support those legislators that support True Alimony Reform. This is a good question to ask those legislators running for re-election. Know YOUR Senator and Representative. If we want change, we have to get political. It's a bi-partisan issue, but we need people in office who support True Alimony Reform. Please consider making a financial commitment to help End Lifetime Alimony and Start Life Again. Contribute Here |
