Weekly Newsletter
Greetings!

Every week we are moving forward in the direction of truly meaningful alimony reform.  This week, Rep. Ritch Workman showed his commitment to alimony reform in a meeting with other legislators. He is passionate about meaningful alimony reform and knows what we are up against with the FL and Family Bar.

We have meetings scheduled this next week to meet with two possible Senate Sponsors or "Prime Co-Sponsors."  A Prime Co-Sponsor can bring a bill to the floor for a vote, so what happened to us last year with Senator De La Portilla will not happen again.

FAR will have its first Statewide Meeting on Saturday, July 28th at the WMFE Studios in Orlando.  Rep. Workman will be there to help us with proper strategy for true alimony reform.  Alan Frisher and others will be helping organize FAR members and friends for the months ahead.    We will have much more information about the July FAR Meeting in future newsletters.  For now, save the date and plan to attend.  These meetings energize people, put faces to names you've heard, and help develop a camaraderie among alimony payers and those sympathetic to our cause.

Alan Frisher has made an introductory video introducing himself and why he is passionate about alimony reform.  Click here to view it, then please comment and pass it on to your Facebook friends.  Let's spread the word.

Far Committees Need YOU!

There are many things to do if we want to accomplish our goals this year.

We have plans for advertising and billboards, but still need the funding to implement those plans.  Billboards can be very effective. If you would like to contribute directly for advertsing or billboards, your donation will be used only for that purpose.  This is YOUR chance to get the word out to those ignorant of Florida's alimony laws.

The Theme of our marketing program is:

Do Not Get Divorced In Florida!

This message will stir things up. That's what we want.  Controversy will create media coverage and eventually discussion and debate.

The Legislative Task Force is moving along nicely and will have their first conference call next week. Currently, the Legislative Committee has 23 active participants.  As we approach September and October, we will need many more volunteers to talk with their legislators and help educate them.  The FL and Family Bar have enjoyed little resistance to their legislative efforts until last year when FAR helped bring alimony reform to the headlines.  We must make a bigger impact on our legislators than the FL and Family Bar. YOU need to be heard by YOUR Legislators!

The Event Committee, Fundraising Committee, Second Wives Club, and Advertising Committee need YOU to get involved.

Although we have advertising plans, we need a volunteer to help coordinate the different locations throughout the state.  Please give this serious thought and get involved.  It's your chance to make a difference!

Email_FAR and we will put you in touch with the right people.

 Thanks!

Second Wives Club!

Debbie Israel has chosen to focus on Florida's need for alimony reform and will not be involved with NOWFAR (National Organization of Women for Alimony Reform) in the immediate future.  This will allow Debbie to build a very strong network throughout the state. We are very grateful to have someone of Debbie's background leading this movement.

Debbie will need your help so please get involved.  Every week we receive emails from women who want to marry, but their fiance' is a permanent alimony payer.  Their income would be added to "Household" Income, increasing the "ability to pay" and opening the door for an increased modification in alimony.

We know these anti-marriage laws need changing.  As SWC grows, there will be opportunities to get together personally and on conference calls.  It is very good to meet others affected by these antiquated laws.  There is strength in numbers.

FAR's Alan Frisher will be speaking.  We have learned there are major differences between the states.  Some State Bar associations are willing to work together for a better solution.  Others, like Florida, are facing a brick wall, as clearly demonstrated by Mr. David Manz's,the Chair of the Family Bar,  comments.

If We Let Up, We Lose!

Thank You for your continued commitment to updating Florida's archaic, anti-family, outdated alimony laws.  It is 2012 and time to bring our laws into today's world.  Leave it to Beaver has been replaced by the "Modern Family."  It's a different world.

Cooperation creates Harmony.  It expedites progress and makes your efforts fulfilling.  TEAMWORK will give us Faster Results!

As always, we appreciate your financial contributions.  Billboard advertising is expensive.  We need much more public awareness of Florida's Alimony Laws.

If you don't have much time to donate, please consider making a financial commitment to help end Lifetime Alimony and equalize the playing field.     Contribute Here
