Greetings! ,
Envision this country without a constitution. We would have no legal foundation, no benchmark, and no standards. This nation's Founding Fathers did not allow each citizen to simply choose what behavior he or she considered convenient or appropriate. Boundaries were set in place by our government in the form of laws.
I believe that we need to have laws that help structure society, but those laws must be as fair as possible for the vast majority of people and to also allow for exceptions, when necessary. We put our faith in our government to create those laws, and faith again in our legal system to interpret and carry out (do I dare say 'execute') those laws. What happens when our government tries to create good law, but it is interpreted wrong, or worse, interpreted to the benefit of those who help administer the law? When that happens, it is time for the citizens to speak up, elect representatives who support fair and just laws, and educate those same representatives as to the need for change.
Make no mistake about it, we are fighting for change. The stakes are high and people's lives and livelihoods hang in the balance. Florida Alimony Reform is here to stay. The only people who oppose our efforts are the litigating family law attorneys who seem to feel that their income is more important than the sanctity of human relationships. A recent article published by the Florida Bar News tries, but fails miserably, to be unbiased and informative. Instead, it just continues with the same propaganda that has previously been stated.
What is interesting to note is that the Family Section seems to be worried enough to publish news about FAR in a publication that goes to every attorney in every area of law in the state of Florida. It sounds to me like the Family Section is calling on their Daddy for some help. If you would like to vent, you may send in your comments, but personally I think it will be a total waste of time. Do you really believe that a publication printed by the Florida Bar for their members will publish any of our comments knowing what we know to be true? Oh, and by the way Mr. Blankenship, my last name is spelled 'Frisher" and, I am an "ancillary member" of the Florida Bar.
I would much rather that you send in your comments to the Ledger, which recently printed yet another letter from FAR member, John Fromularo. John not only calls out Mr. Sessums for his untruths, he also points out the enormous costs of trying to obtain a modification within our current court system. The media is certainly working this story and we need to continue supporting their efforts. Please comment on this letter.
This just in---Bryan Anderson of WJHG did a TV report with an alimony payer who described is personal situation. The title of their story is "Alimony Battle Continues." David Manz, the chair of the Family section and I were also interviewed for this spot. Just click on near the little camera icon to see the report. Please feel free to comment on the report as well.
Yes, we remain in a battle for our rights and the rights of future generations. We cannot afford to lose this fight because we have lost so much already. Please tell your friends about FAR, and continue to support us in any way that you can and, whenever possible, please make donations to this worthy cause. Your donation is an investment towards your future relief from permanent alimony. As a professional Investment Advisor, I would highly recommend that you pay a small amount now, as opposed to being forced to pay a much higher amount for the rest of your life.
Thank you.
Remember, if we let up, we lose.
