Weekly Newsletter
Greetings!

Alimony reform continues to be in the news.  Both Anti-Reform and Pro-Reform Attorneys gave their opinions on the web this week and need your comments.

"Those Seeking Alimony 'Reform' Want to End a System That Works" by Mark Sessums, a divorce attorney basically said our alimony laws are okay as is. Permanent alimony works.  We shouldn't change a thing. The eradication of permanent alimony "would be a travesty."  If you disagree, please click here and make your comment.

On another note, Family Law Attorney Nanette Cruz wrote:

"Changes to Florida's alimony law could bring fairness to everyone." Please read her article, then comment.  Fair minded attorneys see the inequity in today's laws. Let's support them with our comments!

The Final Results are: 99% Voted YES in the Florida Voice Poll that asked "Should Florida change its divorce law to end "permanent alimony?"  - 404 YES votes and 5 No votes -

Alan Frisher, FAR's co-director, submitted an Op-Ed article to The Ledger that was published. "Reform Alimony; End Acrimony" Please "Like and Recommend" this article, comment on it, and also thank The Ledger for printing it.

Bryan Anderson of Channel 7 News interviewed FAR's Alan Frisher today.  Also interviewed was Mr. David Manz, the Chair of the Family Bar. Mr. Manz has already made his opinion known, and we (FAR members and friends) responded with many comments to the contrary to his Ledger article.

If we are given advanced notice, we will let you know when the interview is to air. Then respond to the station with your comments. By now, you know the routine!
Thanks.  It will help us all!!

New FAR Website Coming Soon PeopleAtComputer
The growth of FAR has been steady.  We have  outgrown our current website format, and will be replacing it with a new, easier to navigate website, complete with SWC Blog, Downloadable Flyers and Ad's, and much more.  This should be completed by the end of May.  This is a very dynamic process and we need to remain flexible to the changes.

Look for it next month!
SWC Leader Going National
In Debbie Israel's own words:

"Today has been a game changing day. I have been appointed as a Director of of NOWFAR, The National Organization of Women For Alimony Reform, a 501c4 Corporation. The women of the United States will be instrumental in making history by bringing the antiquated alimony laws into the 21st century. Too many lives have been ruined emotionally and financially, and sadly, lives have been lost over severe acrimony due to lifetime alimony imposed by the courts in some states including Florida. This is going to be as big as NOW was in the 60's. Bring it on!"

Debbie is a dynamic individual who will bring appropriate attention to the media, including the Social Media, on the necessity for major alimony reform. We are ALL very fortunate to have a leader like Debbie embracing this opportunity.

Second Wives Club Leader Interviewed on
Channel 4, Miami

Channel 4, Miami is doing a story on "The Hardships of Today's Relationships" and they are going to have a leading expert in "relationships."  Debbie Israel, our SWC Chairperson,  is

going to discuss the hardships due to "permanent alimony".

When it airs, we will notify you. Debbie has been very active with SWC and is looking for more women affected by Florida's alimony laws.  If you are a second wife, would like to be a second wife, or just believe our current laws need updating, please contact Debbie at secondwivesclubfl@gmail.com.

FAR Committees

 LEGISLATIVE TASK FORCE UPDATE

Chapter leaders for eight out of the nine positions have been filled and we only need a Dade Chapter leader in order to get this committee off and running at the same pace across the state.  If you want to volunteer for the legislative task force, please send us an email and we will contact you. If you want to be the Dade Chapter leader, let us know as soon as possible. It mostly involves organizing and tracking visits and campaigns aimed at your local State Senator and Representative with respective FAR members.

Your

Involvement Is Needed

BILLBOARDS

We have been working with several Billboard companies to get the best placement and price for our Billboard Ads.

The message is simple:

DO NOT GET DIVORCED IN FLORIDA

Learn why...

www.FloridaAlimonyReform.com

If you would like to see a billboard in your area with this message on it, please contact us at Info@FloridaAlimonyReform.com

Find a location, contact the Billboard Company or email us the information.  You know your community. Let's make these billboards work effectively.  We need to get the message to the public NOW.

We Need Your Help!  Thanks!

All the committees still need volunteers.  This is a Big Mission in a Big State.  From the Panhandle to the Gold Coast, we need volunteers to help change these laws.

Email FAR and we will put you in touch with the right people.  Just Do It!

Workman's Warriors   Workman's Warriors

Rep. Ritch Workman will be the House Sponsor for our alimony bill next session in Tallahassee.  He is very active with helping injured servicemen and women.  Please  donate to theWorkman Warriors.  Make sure the checks are made out to the 'Sentinels Of Freedom Space Coast'. Read the article on "Workman's Warriors" then show your appreciation.

If we get enough members to contribute to his event and put on the sponsorship form that this should be considered a donation from FAR, maybe we can donate enough to be his major event Sponsor and get the FAR logo on the shirts, acknowledgement on the website, and all event invitations? The publicity would be good.

On your donation say you are a member of FAR and thank Rep. Workman for his efforts. He is a Strong Alimony Reform Supporter.

Contributions Needed  $$$dollars

FAR does not charge an annual fee or a membership fee of any kind. Instead, we depend on the donations and contributions of our membership.  While we are mostly volunteers that are taking personal time away from our professions, businesses, and jobs to dedicate to this cause, we also have real expenses like our Lobbyist to make certain our voices are heard by the Legislators and Senators and to enable effective political strategies to occur; a media consultant who helps with press releases, tv interviews, and media events; advertising expenses for flyers, cards, and possible bill boards as well as other administrative expenses such as website hosting.

This will be Temporary Support to help End

Your Permanent Support.

Your Contributions are a Wise Investment in Everyone's Future!
