Greetings!
The clock is ticking faster than we think. If we don't make our point withour legislators within the next few weeks, we may have a very watered down alimony reform bill. This is NOT the time to complain. This IS the time for massive action.
Regardless of the reason for the Senate Judiciary Committee Meeting being rescheduled, it drove home the point that our system is unpredictable. Thirty people drove to Tallahassee, some from other states, only to be unable to tell their story to those who make our laws.
One thing that is not rescheduled is email and Social Media. NOW is the time to Really Spread The Word. It's time for a Social Media BLITZ!
If each of YOU would share the need for alimony reform on your Social Media, and ask your friends to pass it on, we can get the word about alimony reform to the masses much faster. The truth is, unless you are in an alimony situation, or know someone who is, people generally have no idea how archaic Florida's laws are and how they destroy people and families.
Please educate them. Forward Links to Facebook or Twitter, hit the "Like" button on the various alimony reform articles, sign up your friends to Florida Alimony Reform so they can be kept informed with what is happening. (Your friends have to click on a link that is sent to their email if they wish to join. We need their permission.)
These are the members of the Two Committees that are supposed to hear SB748 and HB549 sometime next week. We don't know when yet!

Please write these legislators informing them how Florida's Current alimony laws are totally out of date. Tell YOUR story, but please be brief. Then ask for support of SB748 and HB549 and end marital discrimination.

| Senate Judiciary Committee has NOT Scheduled The Hearing to discuss Alimony Reform Bill, YET!
The Senate Judiciary Committee has not scheduled the cancelled meeting from earlier this week. Please click here for any updates.
Who knows if rescheduling the meeting was unplanned, or a tactic to delay discussion on alimony reform. Either way, we need to make our presence and position known. To those who traveled from all over the state, only to not be heard, Thank You! Your Red Shirts and Clothing were noticed. You learned of how the system of politics works in Florida. Now we need to help educate some legislators.
I have seen some of the emails sent to Sen. Flores and the other committee members. They have been well written and to the point. The FL Bar has many legislators convinced that there are no real problems with our current alimony laws.
We know differently. Your situation is the one your legislator needs to hear about. If you are a Florida resident, it's time to speak up, not just to your legislator, but to those in committees.

Download these comments, print them up, and send them to your legislators. They have to understand this is a much larger issue than the FL Bar and Family Bar claim. Seeing is believing. Numbers DO matter to politicians. Show them what people are saying. Any "uninlifhtened" legislator may "see the light" with the right presentation.
