Update on Early Learning

Challenge Grant

We are eagerly awaiting the news from the U.S. Department of Education on whether New York State has won an Early Learning Challenge Grant. In the meantime, we want to thank all of you for your support and hard work in helping craft what we hope will be a successful proposal.

At the ECAC Membership meeting on December 6th, we were able to personally thank Nicolas Storelli-Castro of SED and Katie Campos of the Governor's Office who jointly coordinated the work. Co-chairs Sherry Cleary and Bob Frawley commended them for their tireless effort to ensure that New York State created an application of which we can all be proud.

Largest Audience Ever Tunes In for ZERO TO THREE's Early Childhood Mental Health State Planning Webinar

Click here to view the webinar shown on November 28th that was sponsored by the National Center for Children in Poverty, the BUILD Initiative, and the ZERO TO THREE Policy Center. The webinar featured New York and Colorado in a discussion about a new Early Childhood Mental Health (ECMH) tool produced by the National Center for Children in Poverty to aid state planning on young children's mental health. The Promoting Healthy Development Work Group co-chairs, Mary McHugh and Dina Lieser, and member Evelyn Blanck led the efforts to populate the tool and prepare for the webinar, in which Mary McHugh and Evelyn Blanck represented New York State.Over 1,300 people registered for the webinar, the largest audience ever for any webinars sponsored by the ZERO TO THREE Policy Center. Congratulations to Mary, Dina and Evelyn, and all those on the ECAC who contributed, for a job well done!
