Dear (Contact First Name),
Our low cost spay/neuter clinic is close to completion. We are in awe of how the project is coming together! Putting a lock on the door, as we did a few weeks ago, kind of makes it official. Yet-- we must raise an additional $23,000. This is our last fundraising push before we open the doors and begin providing this much-needed service to our community.
Once open full-time, our clinic will have the capacity to spay or neuter 35 animals a day, 4 days a week, 49 weeks a year for a total of 6,860 a year. Through our Community Assistance Fund, our fees will be reduced even more or, in some cases, waived for qualifying low income, elderly, or disabled pet owners who could not otherwise afford services. In addition, we plan regular feral cat clinics. Please consider a donation to our Community Assistance Fund or sponsoring a feral cat clinic.
We hope to open sometime in June of this year, but there are many factors that could affect our timeline. If you would like a tour of the clinic, or would like to make or discuss a donation to our program, please contact June at 615-714-3096 or Sara at 615-330-6372.
We've included 3 photos of the clinic from April 26, 2011. You will find them on the third page of this newsletter. |

PEDALS AND PAWS WHAT A DAY FOR A BIKE RIDE!
The first "PEDALS AND PAWS" bike ride was a wonderful event! We expected about 40, but 82 riders came out on Saturday, April 9th. We began at the Gallatin Civic Center. Riders chose either a 25- or 45-mile ride through the beautiful Sumner County countryside with rolling, and a few very challenging hills. Thanks to our riders and sponsors, we raised $5000! We are so grateful to our Presenting Sponsor, LPS Integration of Nashville as well as our co-sponsors, McCloud's Lawn and Pest Service of Hendersonville and the Gallatin Newspaper. We are also grateful to the following additional sponsors: Dr. Kush Frenchman, Guns and Leather, Wood Tax Service, Culligan, Loving Kittens Rescue, American Security Bank, Bikers Choice, Ma and Paws Pet Supply, The UPS Store # 3429, Bush Jewelry and Design, ASAP Printing and McCormick Realty, Howards Vitamin Store, John and Mary Genung and Patti and Harry Ragsdale, who would like us to remember that feral cats need to be spayed and neutered and cared for. Thank you also to Publix of Gallatin and Hendersonville for providing rest stop food and drink. Funds raised at this event will go toward the last phase of opening the high quality, high volume, low cost spay neuter clinic. Below: "Pedals and Paws" Coordinator, Curtis McMahon, gets some attention from "Jackson," who belongs to Claudia Ferguson, Marketing Manager for our Presenting Sponsor, LPS.

Ink Cartridges: Some very kind folks have been opening up reward accounts at both Staples and Office Depot and turning in their ink cartridges. When they get their rewards card, they send it to SSNA to purchase office supplies, printing, etc. We almost have enough to purchases a large file cabinet for our office. This is an effortless way to donate and we appreciate it very much. Can you help us in this way?

Thank You!
SSNA would like to offer a very special thank you to Kristy and Todd Ketchel, owners of Ma and Paws Pet Supply in Hendersonville. Although we're not financially ready to purchase our expensive dog cage banks, we didn't want that to keep us from opening the clinic in a timely manner. We initiated a plan to use crates as our temporary holding area. Kristy worked with the manufacturer, Midwest, and distributor, Southeast Pet, who donated 6 crates (2 of each size) and Kristy and Todd donated the remaining 11. Thank you, Kristy and Todd, for being so committed to this spay neuter project! Your kindness will go a long way in helping to get more pets spayed and neutered.

WE CAN'T SAY IT ENOUGH! Spaying and neutering is the most effective and humane way of controlling pet overpopulation. The result will be countless lives saved through prevention. If unwanted litters of pups and kittens are not born, they won't need to be rescued from abandonment and abuse, or euthanized due to overcrowding. PLEASE SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR PETS.
