The Longmont Artists' Guild is grateful to the Great Frame Up for many years of support and friendship.
The Great Frame Up Gallary shows our art each year and the owner, Dave Iannazzo, generously permits us to use the showroom space after hours for our monthly meetings and demonstrations.
Guild artists have also held one-man shows in this attractive gallary.

Happy New Year!

LAG has been working on getting the prospectus out early this year, so you can start working on your art for the 2012 LAG/BAA Show.
The format of the prospectus is new. After receiving requests from artists to have more time to work on their show entries, we made some changes.
We are hoping these changes will help the artists as well as help us plan the show.
Another change this year is we are working to get more sponsor involvement. If you have a business or know of one that would be a good fit with the art show, please let me know. Keep in mind that we are a 501(c)3 organization and donations are tax deductible.

JANUARY ARTIST DEMONSTRATION
| | SOPHIA GOSS
Watercolors
Plein air watercolor artist Sophia Goss:
Arts & Crafts instructor for the Carbon Valley Recreation District since 2004. Over 35 years experience teaching art to both children and adults in school and recreation settings. Past President and Art Show Chairman for the Southwest Artists League (Atlanta, GA; ca.1989) Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting (Louisiana Tech, Rustin, LA; ca.1973); post graduate hours in watercolor.
I moved to Colorado in 1993. During this time I have fulfilled a desire for more time to paint. I think of myself as a sky scape painter more than a landscape painter and enjoy primarily painting in plein air.
In 2007 I studied with visiting Chinese artist Ning Sun (sunningart.com) hosted by the Windsor Library.
I entered the Frederick Annual Art Show in 2008 and was recognized for an award.
Part of a plein aire panting.
Locally, my paintings and students' artwork are exhibited in the Colorado Community Bank in Firestone.

NOVEMBER ARTIST DEMONSTRATION
Judith Dickenson

Judith Dickenson treated us to a fabulous artist demo at our November meeting. She is very well known for her beautiful portraits, including our past Governor Bill Ritter. She generously shared her list of colors she uses for her skin tones (see below) and had some nice words to say about our artist guild:
"Wow, Susan, what an amazing newsletter! I sure wish we had something like that in our area! What a great group of artists - it was such a privilege to be a part of it. Attached is the portrait skin color combinations paper I handed out. This was just very informally done for one of my students and is not a very complete list by any means. But if it can be helpful as a starting point for someone, great!
Thanks, Judee
