NOVEMBER 2011 Newsletter |
|
|
If one checks their dictionary to see the meaning of volunteer, it reads as: "...a person who voluntarily offers himself or herself for a service or undertaking." Volunteering is essential to organizations such as ours because none of the work gets done by paid employees. Typically, less than half of the members of most organizations volunteer. One of the reasons people don't volunteer is they get no motivation from the president. I hope this guild will show you the value and importance of volunteering. Your skills can be utilized to help this origination flourish. Each person is so different and has new ideas about how to better achieve an objective and interjects one's personality into a situation. If you feel you don't make a difference in the guild; you do, and your efforts will be appreciated and enjoyed by all members. I hope that this has inspired you to get involved and volunteer.
There are many volunteer opportunities available in the guild, especially with organizing and setting up art shows. Please contact myself or one of the board members about how you might get involved in your guild.

Meet Our New Board Members
|
JENNY LOW Publicity Director:
LAG would like to welcome and congratulate Jenny for her recent appointment as our new LAG Publicity Director. She has already made some great contacts with our community that will be of great benefit to LAG!Artist Bio: Ever since I could pick up a pencil, I've drawn. It was a driving force in my life, so I went to Flagler College and obtained a BA in Fine Arts. Later, I obtained a BS in Art Education. I've worked as an office worker, data entry clerk, marketing assistant, Art teacher, nursing assistant, and a medical assistant. I've even lived in Malaysia for 4 years, while there I continued to draw and visit galleries and museums.
I started out working in graphite pencil, then expanded into acrylics, inks, and oils. My experimentations have been in fiber, watercolor, book making, beading, and hand crafts. I like Oriental, Surrealism, Representational-ism, and some Non-objective Art. Presently, I am learning the techniques of the Old Masters in Oils. I still haven't decided which medium or style I like the best-I just like doing them all.
LYNN DAIGNAULT

Lynn has actually been on our board for a year now as Venue coordinator, but has graciously accepted the position as Vice President, along with her Venue Coordinator duties. We really appreciate Lynn taking on both of these important positions!

Hazel McCoy Website LAG would like to thank Hazel for joining our board as our new Website Developer. Her skills and artistic creativity will be a great asset to our guild by re-designing and maintaining our website.
