Dear NCCCR members,

Happy 2012! We are looking forward to beginning our Winter 2012 term this Monday, January 9, especially after a very energetic New Member Welcome on Friday, January 6. Many thanks to Linda Bushar and Jan Guichard for their work putting the event together, to Membership Committee Co-Chairs Babs Guardenier and Kathy Rouse, and to all of the Center Steering Council members who participated, and to all of our valued members, new and seasoned, who attended. Our new members have either an owl or a bumblebee sticker on their name tags.  We appreciate our seasoned members offering a special greeting to those who are joining us for the first time and encourage everyone to enjoy and cultivate the spirit of community that sets us apart as an organization.

Please be aware that Monday is also the first day for UNC Asheville undergraduate classes, so parking may be a bit challenging during this first week.

As we look forward to a new year, we also want to update you on the results of our annual membership survey. Thanks to Steve Schleifer, chair of our research committee, for his thoughtful, diligent work to create surveys and evaluations that give our members a voice in what goes on at the Center.  Surveys and evaluations help us track trends in the organization and give us data to make objective decisions on difficult and important changes that we contemplate in our efforts to remain one of the leading national programs for active and engaged older adults.  If you are interested in seeing responses to this year's annual member survey, please click here to view the results of the 2011 Annual Member Survey.  We will have the opportunity to discuss the results of the survey at our Annual Town Hall Meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, April 10 at 4:30 pm.

As always, please contact me (cfrank@unca.edu) or phone me at 828-251-6188 if you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns.  Best wishes,

Catherine Frank

 Executive Director
