NCCCR Calendar & Announcements
Upcoming Schedule of Events
October 2-8, 2011 |
|
|
Dear NCCCR members,
Congratulations to Sally Mundt and the Health and Wellness Committee and to Carol Gillen and the Marketing Committee and to Leanna Preston and Trevor Hooks (who managed the logistics for preparing the Reuter Center) for another successful Healthy Living Day. We had packed houses for many of the lectures and demonstrations that covered varied topics related to active and healthy aging.
The committee displayed particular resilience, weathering an incorrect announcement of the date for the event in the local newspaper, a misunderstanding with the catering department about food for the event, and the illness of planned speaker Carl Eisdorfer. Productive and healthy aging requires "adaptive competence," the ability to bounce back and move on when life throws its inevitable curves. Sally and her committee planned carefully and well in advance, but it is a testament to their adaptive competence that they carried out a wonderful event despite disruptions to those plans. We look forward to the many ways the committee will help us cultivate health and wellness and are inspired by the good example they set.
Thanks so much to all of our members who volunteer and participate in the effort to craft a creative retirement.
Catherine Frank
Executive Director
