Food Distribution
Board members help distribute food to families of Club memebers

On March 3, the Boys & Girls Club, in partnership with the 2nd Harvest Food Bank, distributed more than 200 bags of food to needy families of our own Club members. The Boys & Girls Club commits to serving the underserved youth in our community, and an overwhelming 85% of our members come from families living below the poverty level. We hope to be able to continue the program on a monthly basis extending the food distribution to anyone in need in our community.

Annual Campaign
This year's Annual Campaign brings in much-needed unrestricted funds

The 2011 Annual Campaign proved to be another successful fundraising effort for the Boys & Girls Club! The money raised through fundraisers such as our Annual Campaign is crucial to the life of our organization because these funds are unrestricted to cover any program and activity costs. We appreciate all of the support from local businesses and individuals. However, additional and continued support is necessary for the Boys & Girls Club to serve at its full capacity and reach out to those youth untouched by our organization.

A special thanks to the Georgia Southern University community for being an integral part of our daily operations at the Club!
Goal-setting Workshop
GSU Honors Students work with Club members

Boys & Girls Club middle and high-schoolers are getting help setting goals for their future and preparing for college thanks to Georgia Southern Honors Community Scholars. Every Wednesday, students from the honors program come to the Boys & Girls Club to teach a lesson. The honors students didn't want members to feel like they were just sitting in another class, so all of the lessons are hands-on and interactive with games and activities. By getting creative and getting the children involved, it really helps to make a lasting impact on them.

GSU Football Comes to BGC
GSU football players give of their time on a weekly basis

Over the past year, players and coaches of the Georgia Southern football program have come to the Club on a regular basis. While the children look up to these athletes, it gives the players a chance to put their mentoring skills to work. Their visits cause a lot of excitement around the Club, and both players and children have enjoyed their involvement by helping with homework, playing games and, of course, signing lots of autographs. We greatly appreciate the support of Coach Monken, his staff and the players!
