From The Positive Perspective.......
As we approach the 10 year anniversary of 9/11 please take a moment to reflect on all the lives lost, injured and changed that day. Living 30 miles from the World Trade Center at the time, I could see the burning site from my upstairs window. The tragedy took 11 people from our place of worship and 26 people from our town, not to mention the many others that barely escaped the island of Manhattan.
This day proved to the world that we do not define ourselves as just Democrats or Republicans; Texans or New Yorkers; middle class, lower class or upper class; but we came together that day to define ourselves as Americans. We shared in the sorrow no matter where we lived in this country, or in the world. We came together to offer whatever we had to those that needed it. We began to reprioritize what was important in our lives. Those little annoyances of our neighbor or those small inconsistencies at the time no longer were in the forefront of our mind. What was important included our family, our friends and being safe. We let petty differences just melt away so easily. So what happened? Somehow we have come around to being almost back where we were prior to 9/11.
I challenge you to go back to that day 10 years ago to the emotions you felt and the desire to help others and reach out to make others' lives the best they can possibly be. I challenge you to set aside those disagreements with others that will not do anything but raise your blood pressure and take valuable time away from focusing on the important things in life, however you define them.
I thank God every day for the family I have been blessed with, for the experiences he has allowed me to enjoy in my 47 years of life and for the people he continually surrounds me with to help me be a better person. May you feel as blessed in the life you are living today. It helps to look at it From The Positive Perspective.......
