Chisholm Trail Parkway is a 27.6-mile toll road that will extend from Tarrant County to Johnson County, starting from Fort Worth's central business district at Interstate 30 and continuing to U.S. 67 in Cleburne. The NTTA began initial construction in April 2010 on Section 2C, one of the northernmost sections of the project, located in Fort Worth near Union Pacific Railroad's Davidson Yard. In March 2010, the Texas Department of Transportation began construction of Section 3A, a $117 million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act project. Section 3A consists of local access improvements to Interstate 20/State Highway 183 (Southwest Boulevard) at CTP. Construction of the remaining project sections is underway. The entire CTP project is anticipated to open to traffic in spring 2014.

Construction work will not affect TCU's season opener
The countdown is on for TCU's season opener against Grambling State University on Saturday, Sept. 8, and Chisholm Trail Parkway crews are working to make sure construction does not hinder traffic to the game.
On Friday, Sept. 7, crews will close the left lane of north- and southbound Forest Park Boulevard between Interstate 30 and the Union Pacific Railroad. The lanes will reopen by 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, in advance of the scheduled 6 p.m. kickoff. Construction will resume in this area Sunday, Sept. 9, and is expected to last through Monday, Sept. 17. Work will be limited to off-peak traffic hours, daily 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
University Drive will return to its normal configuration this week as crews complete striping work. Last week, crews closed the left lanes of north- and southbound University Drive. During the closure, crews removed the median and placed temporary pavement for future CTP phases. |

Construction begins near FM 917
Work has started near FM 917 in Johnson County, prepping for the underpass that will be constructed. FM 917 will remain at the current elevation, and the CTP will go under FM 917 at this future interchange.
Starting this activity marks a significant milestone for the project. The excavation of material to form a "cut" of around 25 feet under FM 917 from CR 910 to Bryant Place will generate approximately one-third of the material needed to build the embankments for the overpasses built over other county roads, farm-to-market roads and creek crossings along the project. Phasing of this earthwork and bridge construction operation is critical so that FM 917 will remain accessible throughout the duration of the project and not impact the day-to-day travels of users who rely on FM 917-a major thoroughfare in Johnson County. |

Beam placement for northbound CTP main lane bridge near the Hulen Street bridge and the UPRR's Davidson Yard in Fort Worth
Crews in Johnson County use heavy equipment to excavate soil at the future FM 917 underpass that will eventually be approximately 25 feet deep. |
