The President George Bush Turnpike Western Extension, also known as State Highway 161, will provide a new, approximately 11.5-mile link in the growing loop around Dallas. The corridor consists of the tolled PGBT WE main lanes and the SH 161 frontage roads. Phase 1, which includes the frontage roads from Carrier Parkway to Interstate 20, is complete and open to traffic. Phases 2 and 3 consist of the tolled main lanes between SH 183 and I-30 and are also open to traffic. The final phase of the project, Phase 4, extends from I-30 to I-20 in Grand Prairie and is expected to open to traffic in the fourth quarter of 2012. ________________________________________________________________ |

Construction Update
Retaining wall installation continues between Main Street and Dalworth Road and in the Interstate 30 area on the north end of Phase 4 of the Western Extension. Bridge decks continue to be placed at January Lane and the I-30 direct-connector ramps. In addition, overhead signage is being erected south of Jefferson Street.
On the south end of the project, bridge deck work continues on the I-20 direct-connector ramps.
Throughout the project, technology work continues as well as main lane gantry construction.
On another note, southbound SH 161 is completely closed between Main Street and NW 19th Street in Grand Prairie. Traffic is being detoured south on NW 19th Street to Jefferson Street, then east back to SH 161. Expect delays during peak drive times. This closure will be in place until further notice. |

NTTA updates the Top Toll Violators list
More than 600 people removed from list
The North Texas Tollway Authority has updated its Top Toll Violators webpage containing the names of individuals who owe 100 or more outstanding tolls. Since the launch of the webpage on July 11, approximately 655 people have paid their outstanding debt in full or have entered into payment arrangements. The NTTA is also in discussions with a number of others.
To ensure payment from all toll road users, the NTTA is offering a lump sum payment option and an extended payment plan to those on the list. Under both plans, the violator must open a TollTag account for future tolls and keep the account in good standing.
The Top Toll Violators list, frequently asked questions, information on the payment options and other customer service information can be found at Customer Information> Billing & Payment> Top Toll Violators. |
