Chisholm Trail Parkway is a 27.6-mile toll road that will extend from Tarrant County to Johnson County, starting from Fort Worth's central business district at Interstate 30 and continuing to U.S. 67 in Cleburne. The NTTA began initial construction in April 2010 on Section 2C, one of the northernmost sections of the project, located in Fort Worth near Union Pacific Railroad's Davidson Yard. In March 2010, the Texas Department of Transportation began construction of Section 3A, a $117 million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act project. Section 3A consists of local access improvements to Interstate 20/State Highway 183 (Southwest Boulevard) at CTP. Construction of the remaining project sections is underway. The entire CTP project is anticipated to open to traffic in spring 2014.

Public artist presents conceptual designs for CTP

Noted public artist Norie Sato presented conceptual designs for the Chisholm Trail Parkway to the Fort Worth Public Art Commission on July 9. Sato's conceptual designs for the East Clearfork bridge mosaic murals highlight Trinity River water fowl. In addition to the artwork for the bridge monuments, conceptual design work for "Water Passages," several free-standing sculptural elements that would be placed at locations where tributaries of the Trinity River cross under the CTP, also were presented during the meeting.

Following the presentation, the Arts Commission voted to move the designs forward for final approval by the Fort Worth City Council.

Sato is a nationally acclaimed public artist. Her projects include the North Creek Pump Station in Bethel, Washington, Sound Transit Link light rail stations in Seattle and the Dallas Convention Center expansion project.

Work near Trinity River begins July 18

Crews working near the Trinity River in Fort Worth will begin excavation work on the south side of the river (near the Edwards Ranch development) on July 18. During construction, the Trinity Trails will remain open during normal operating hours (5 a.m. - 10 p.m.). However, at night when the trails are closed, there may be times when the trails are blocked so that crews can continue construction on the future CTP bridges. A detour will be constructed around the work area and detour signs placed to accommodate trail users. The work area will be delineated with fencing.

Southern portion of CTP broken into five sections during construction

To help ease construction efforts, Section 6 of the Chisholm Trail Parkway was divided into five groups that construction crews work within.

These groups include:

* Group 1 - FM 1187 to CR 1015

* Group 2 - CR 1015 to CR 1016

* Group 3 - CR 1016 to Timber Top Trail

* Group 4 - Timber Top Trail to Sparks Road

* Group 5 - Sparks Road to U.S. 67

The break down of this 13.1-mile-long construction project into these five groups has aided in organizing work for the Johnson County portion of the CTP. Construction is currently ongoing in all groups of the project.

If you have specific questions on any areas of construction in Johnson County, please do not hesitate to contact the Johnson County CTP hotline at (817) 202-9384.

Upcoming closures and activity

Demolition of Rosedale-Lovell bridge slated for early AugustRoad Work Ahead Sign

As work continues on the CTP near Interstate 30 in Fort Worth, the westbound Rosedale Street bridge to Lovell Street is anticipated to close in early August. Parts of the bridge will be demolished and rebuilt to accommodate the CTP. Once the schedule is finalized, additional information on detour routes will be provided.

Work along Rutledge Road expected to begin July 26

Crews expect to begin work along Rutledge Road in Fort Worth on Thursday, July 26. As part of the plans for the Chisholm Trail Parkway, Rutledge Road will become a "dead-end" street with a cul-de-sac being built just west of the extended Montgomery Road. Construction activity will restrict traffic along Rutledge Road to local business and delivery only; through traffic will be detoured to Vickery Boulevard.

For more information about upcoming lane closures and traffic-related news along NTTA roadways, go to the "Scheduled Lane Closures" listing at www.ntta.org or call (817) 207-0184 for Tarrant County information. For Johnson County information, please call (817) 202-9384. You also may contact the NTTA via email at ChisholmTrail@ntta.org.

Top Toll Violators list now live on NTTA.org

Outreach effort aimed at reaching customers who owe significant tolls

 Top Violators

The NTTA published a webpage on July 11 containing the names of individuals who owe 100 or more outstanding tolls. The list is designed to provide the public with a way to easily determine if they owe a significant debt to the NTTA and put them on notice that they may be subject to collections lawsuits and other enforcement action by the NTTA.

The Top Toll Violatorswebpage is part of a coordinated effort by the NTTA to ensure that all users of NTTA roadways pay for that usage. The NTTA is funded by user fees-tolls-and not taxes. Those on the "Top Violators" list have more than 100 outstanding tolls and have refused to pay invoices over at least 180 days.

See the list and read the frequently asked questions at www.ntta.org/custinfo/BIlling-and-Payment/Pages/Top_Toll_Violators.aspx.
