The President George Bush Turnpike Western Extension, also known as State Highway 161, will provide a new, approximately 11.5-mile link in the growing loop around Dallas. The corridor consists of the tolled PGBT WE main lanes and the SH 161 frontage roads. Phase 1, which includes the frontage roads from Carrier Parkway to Interstate 20, is complete and open to traffic. Phases 2 and 3 consist of the tolled main lanes between SH 183 and I-30 and are also open to traffic. The final phase of the project, Phase 4, extends from I-30 to I-20 in Grand Prairie and is expected to open to traffic in the fourth quarter of 2012. ________________________________________________________________ |

Ongoing Construction
Construction on the southern half of the Main Street bridge in Grand Prairie is underway. When complete, the bridge will extend over the future PGBT Western Extension main lanes that will be located under Main Street, Jefferson Street and the Union Pacific Railroad.
Bridge work keeps momentum on various parts of the corridor, including bridge beam erection at January Lane and bridge deck installation at the Interstate 20 and I-30 direct connectors.
Various closures and traffic shifts along I-20, I-30 and the surrounding frontage roads continue as crews perform structural steel and precast beam installation as well as decking operations. Visit NTTA.org for a list of daily closures. |
