Chisholm Trail Parkway is a 27.6-mile toll road that will extend from Tarrant County to Johnson County, starting from Fort Worth's central business district at Interstate 30 and continuing to U.S. 67 in Cleburne. The NTTA began initial construction in April 2010 on Section 2C, one of the northernmost sections of the project, located in Fort Worth near Union Pacific Railroad's Davidson Yard. In March 2010, the Texas Department of Transportation began construction of Section 3A, a $117 million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act project. Section 3A consists of local access improvements to Interstate 20/State Highway 183 (Southwest Boulevard) at CTP. Construction of the remaining project sections is underway. The entire CTP project is anticipated to open to traffic in mid-2014.

Chisholm Trail Parkway construction moving full speed ahead

Work continues to progress on the Chisholm Trail Parkway. Motorists driving near the corridor in Tarrant County will notice drillers, heavy equipment and bridge support structures dotting the landscape. Along Interstate 30, crews continue excavation work between Forest Park Boulevard and Fort Worth and Western Railroad. Crews also are building up embankment and drilling and pouring supports for CTP bridge structures between Old University Drive and University Drive. Further south, the new Hulen Street bridge and the CTP main lanes take shape as crews continue to place bridge decks and supports over the Union Pacific Railroad Yard.

In the southern Fort Worth area of the project work continues on embankments, drainage structures and columns.

Ongoing Closures

Heavy equipment traffic across the Trinity Trails expected through early May Road Work Ahead Sign

Users of the Trinity Trails should expect to see heavy equipment crossing the trails near Hulen Street through the early May. The trails will remain open during normal operating hours and flagmen will be on hand to direct trail users.

Periodic closures of Vickery Boulevard expected through May 19

The delivery and installation of the CTP bridge beams will necessitate periodic closures along Vickery Boulevard. Crews wills close Vickery Boulevard between Hulen Street and Micki Lynn Avenue nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Saturday, May 19.

Vickery Boulevard traffic will be detoured as follows:

* Eastbound traffic will be detoured north onto Micki Lynn Avenue, west to Kilpatrick Avenue, north to Eldridge Street, east to Donnelly Avenue, south to Hulen Street and east to Vickery Boulevard.
* Westbound traffic will be detoured north to Hulen Street, west to Donnelly Avenue, south to Eldridge Street, east to Kilpatrick Avenue, south to Micki Lynn Avenue and west to Vickery Boulevard.

Periodic closures on northbound Hulen Street

Commuters traveling northbound on Hulen Street should expect periodic closures of the right, northbound lane of Hulen Street between Overton Terrace Court and Ranch View Road through early August.
