Chisholm Trail Parkway is a 27.6-mile toll road that will extend from Tarrant County to Johnson County, starting from Fort Worth's central business district at Interstate 30 and continuing to U.S. 67 in Cleburne. The NTTA began initial construction in April 2010 on Section 2C, one of the northernmost sections of the project, located in Fort Worth near Union Pacific Railroad's Davidson Yard. In March 2010, the Texas Department of Transportation began construction of Section 3A, a $117 million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act project. Section 3A consists of local access improvements to Interstate 20/State Highway 183 (Southwest Boulevard) at CTP. Construction of the remaining project sections is underway. The entire CTP project is anticipated to open to traffic in mid-2014.

Horseshoe-shaped detour implemented on Oakmont Boulevard
Crews working in the southern Fort Worth portion of the Chisholm Trail Parkway project installed a new detour on March 18 that guides motorists around construction activities. East- and westbound traffic is reduced to one lane through the detour. The traffic pattern is expected to last through November. |
|
Additional lane added to SH 183 frontage road at Bryant Irvin Road
Texas Department of Transportation crews added a new left-turn-only lane from the westbound State Highway 183 frontage road to southbound Bryant Irvin Road. This improvement will increase the number of frontage road lanes to three with a dedicated right-turn lane. |

Nightly closures planned for Vickery Boulevard March 22-31
Crews will close Vickery Boulevard between Hulen Street and Micki Lynn Avenue nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. as they continue to set bridge beams for the north- and southbound Chisholm Trail Parkway main lanes near the Union Pacific Railroad's Davidson Yard and for the new Hulen Street bridge.

Periodic closures scheduled on northbound Hulen Street
Commuters traveling northbound on Hulen Street should expect periodic closures of the right northbound lane of Hulen Street between Overton Terrace Court and Ranch View Road through early April. |

Initial Work Progresses in Johnson County
Work continues on the Johnson County portion of the Chisholm Trail Parkway project. The area from FM 1187 to County Road 1015 (approximately 2.5 miles) has been cleared to prepare for the construction ahead.
Also, geotechnical work, which includes soil borings to analyze the foundation of the ground for construction, is underway along the project right of way at Pleasant Oaks Road (near County Road 1022, north of Don Lee Road). This information will guide the engineers in the finalization of design on the project.
The entire CTP corridor is expected to open to traffic in mid-2014. For more information about the project in Johnson County, please call (817) 202-9384 in Johnson County or send an email to ChisholmTrail@ntta.org. |
