Chisholm Trail Parkway is a 27.6-mile toll road that will extend from Tarrant County to Johnson County, starting from Fort Worth's central business district at Interstate 30 and continuing to U.S. 67 in Cleburne. The NTTA began initial construction in April 2010 on Section 2C, one of the northernmost sections of the project, located in Fort Worth near Union Pacific Railroad's Davidson Yard. In March 2010, the Texas Department of Transportation began construction of Section 3A, a $117 million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act project. Section 3A consists of local access improvements to Interstate 20/State Highway 183 (Southwest Boulevard) at CTP. Construction of the remaining project sections is underway. The entire CTP project is anticipated to open to traffic in mid-2014.

Chisholm Trail Parkway work will not affect Cowtown Marathon

The 34th annual Cowtown Marathon will take over Fort Worth Feb. 24-26. The three-day event is the third largest multi-race event in Texas and includes a health and fitness expo and 5k for youth runners. Last year's run attracted more than 22,000 runners from 46 states and eight countries.

Participants do not need to worry about construction during the running events. The NTTA and the City of Fort Worth worked together to ensure construction on the CTP would not interfere with this year's races.

Good luck to all of this year's participants!

Closures along Overton Ridge Boulevard begin Feb. 20 Road Work Ahead Sign

One outside eastbound and one outside westbound lane of Overton Ridge Boulevard just west of River Ranch Road will be closed today, Feb. 20, for construction work on the CTP bridges near Overton Ridge Boulevard. This traffic pattern is expected to be in place through early May.

Insurance Lane bridge demolition rescheduled for Feb. 24

Construction crews for the Texas Department of Transportation are expected to begin demolishing the Insurance Lane bridge on Feb. 24. The bridge will eventually be replaced by the future CTP frontage road bridge over SH 183 that connects to Insurance Plaza. Over the last two weeks, crews have gradually shifted traffic onto the new detour pavement.

TxDOT crews have been working near the I-20/SH 183 interchange since 2010. The $117 million access improvement project at I-20/SH 183 is in preparation for the future SH 121/CTP. The project will construct several new bridges, access ramps and new SH 121/CTP frontage roads as well as lowering and rebuilding the SH 183 main lanes. Completion for this portion of the CTP is scheduled for spring 2013.

Project information is accessible at: www.txdot.gov, KEYWORD: Chisholm Trail Parkway.

Coming Soon...

Oakmont Boulevard detour begins March 1 Flagger Sign

Crews working in the southern Fort Worth portion of the CTP project created a new detour that will direct motorists around construction activities beginning at 7 a.m. on March 1. The detour will shift traffic slightly south of Oakmont Boulevard onto the new detour pavement. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction. This traffic pattern is expected to last through November.

Upcoming lane closures and reductions planned along I-30 and University Drive

Beginning March 1, the westbound I-30 main lanes and shoulders will be narrowed between University Drive and Summit Avenue.

In early March, the right-turn lane from Vickery Boulevard to University Drive will be closed. Motorists will be detoured to Rogers Road and Collinsworth Street.

Stewart Feltz closed to through traffic in early March

As construction continues on the Chisholm Trail Parkway, crews will permanently close Stewart Feltz Road to through traffic between Old Granbury Road and West Cleburne Road. Cul-de-sacs will be built where Stewart Feltz Road intersects with the CTP right of way.

Motorists may use one of the following local streets to access FM 1187:

* Sycamore School Road

* Crowley Road

* Old Granbury Road

Rolling closures along I-30 planned for mid-March

Utility crews will perform rolling lane closures on east- and westbound I-30 from Summit Avenue to the Trinity River from 7-9 a.m. on weekend days in mid-March.

In addition, the following ramps will be closed periodically between 7-9 a.m. while the work is being performed:

* Eastbound I-30 University Drive entrance ramp

* Westbound I-30 frontage road at Parkview Road

* Eastbound Forest Park Boulevard entrance ramp

* Westbound Summit Avenue entrance ramp to I-30

* Westbound frontage road between Summit Avenue and Forest Park Boulevard

Law enforcement will be on hand to direct motorists while the work is being performed.

Demolition of State Highway 183 bridge over Bryant Irvin Road scheduled for March 4

TxDOT construction crews plan to demolish the northern half of the State Highway 183/Southwest Boulevard bridge over Bryant Irvin Road. The demolition is expected to begin at 9 a.m. on March 4, and be complete by 6 a.m. on March 5. For the safety of motorists, all traffic on Bryant Irvin Road will be detoured to the SH 183 frontage roads during the bridge demolition.

Motorists on Bryant Irvin Road and the SH 183 frontage roads in this area should expect significant delays. Access to local businesses will be maintained and police officers will be present to direct traffic along the detour route.
