Chisholm Trail Parkway is a 27.6-mile toll road that will extend from Tarrant County to Johnson County, starting from Fort Worth's central business district at Interstate 30 and continuing to U.S. 67 in Cleburne. The NTTA began initial construction in April 2010 on Section 2C, one of the northernmost sections of the project, located in Fort Worth near Union Pacific Railroad's Davidson Yard. In March 2010, the Texas Department of Transportation began construction of Section 3A, a $117 million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act project. Section 3A consists of local access improvements to Interstate 20/State Highway 183 (Southwest Boulevard) at CTP. Construction of the remaining project sections is underway. The entire CTP project is anticipated to open to traffic in mid-2014.

Construction will not affect Trinity Trails
As construction progresses on the Chisholm Trail Parkway, plans call for work near the Trinity Trails. During construction, the trails will be open during normal operational hours (5 a.m. - 10 p.m.). However, at night, when the trails are closed, there will be times when they are blocked so that crews can continue construction for the proposed CTP bridges.
The Trinity Trails are a popular destination for hikers, bikers and joggers. Consisting of more than 40 miles, the trails connect to 21 parks and several Fort Worth landmarks, including the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens, Fort Worth Zoo, downtown Fort Worth and the historic Stockyards.
Safety precautions will be taken along the trails that are impacted by construction including lighting, safety fence and temporary detours as needed.
Final scheduling of work near the trail will be determined in the coming weeks.

Community meetings planned for south Tarrant County businesses, residents and commuters
The NTTA will host two meetings on Tuesday, Feb. 7, for those interested in learning more about the Chisholm Trail Parkway and construction activity throughout southern Tarrant County. A community meeting is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Fort Worth Academy, 7301 Dutch Branch Road.
A meeting specifically for area business owners also will be held at 2 p.m. at the Fort Worth Academy.
During the presentations, attendees will learn about the project and the anticipated construction schedule. Project partners at the Texas Department of Transportation and the City of Fort Worth also will present information about related projects.
The NTTA has hosted similar meetings with businesses and neighborhood groups in the Interstate 30/downtown Fort Worth and Hulen Street bridge areas of the corridor.

Detour planned for Oakmont Boulevard between Harris Parkway and Oakmont Trail on Feb. 14
Crews working on the southern end of the Chisholm Trail Parkway corridor have constructed a new detour that will direct motorists around construction activities. The new detour will be in place beginning at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14, and will shift traffic slightly west of Oakmont Boulevard onto the new pavement. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction. The traffic pattern is expected to last through November. _________________________________________________________________ |
Closures planned along Overton Ridge Boulevard
Crews are expected to close one outside eastbound and one outside westbound lane of Overton Ridge Boulevard just west of River Ranch Road in mid-February. The closure is necessary as crews begin work on the Chisholm Trail Parkway bridges near Overton Ridge Boulevard. The traffic pattern is expected to be in place through early May. _________________________________________________________________ |

Upcoming traffic switches near the Interstate 20/State Highway 183 Interchange
As Texas Department of Transportation crews prepare to lower State Highway 183, several traffic switches will be necessary. Last week, crews closed the Insurance Lane bridge and the eastbound SH 183 exit to Insurance Lane. Over the next two weeks, crews will continue to make several traffic switches to accommodate construction including:
Beginning Friday, Feb. 10
Crews will switch traffic from the existing SH 183 eastbound main lanes to a detour. As part of this switch, the contractor also will open an entrance ramp from the SH 183 eastbound frontage road to the main lane and restore access from Bryant Irvin to eastbound SH 183/I-20.
Beginning Friday, Feb. 17
Crews will switch traffic from the existing SH 183 westbound main lanes to the detour route. Both east- and westbound traffic will be detoured, and traffic will no longer be able to travel under the Insurance Lane bridge.
Beginning Monday, Feb. 20
Crews will begin demolishing the Insurance Lane bridge. This bridge eventually will be replaced by the future northbound Chisholm Trail Parkway frontage road bridge over SH 183 that connects to Insurance Plaza.
The $117-million access improvement project at I-20/SH 183isin preparation for the future SH 121/Chisholm Trail Parkway. The project will construct several new bridges, access ramps and new SH 121/Chisholm Trail Parkway frontage roads as well as lowering and rebuilding the SH 183 main lanes. Completion is scheduled for spring 2013.
