Chisholm Trail Parkway is a 27.6-mile toll road that will extend from Tarrant County to Johnson County, starting from Fort Worth's central business district at Interstate 30 and continuing to U.S. 67 in Cleburne. The NTTA began initial construction in April 2010 on Section 2C, one of the northernmost sections of the project, located in Fort Worth near Union Pacific Railroad's Davidson Yard. In March 2010, the Texas Department of Transportation began construction of Section 3A, a $117 million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act project. Section 3A consists of local access improvements to Interstate 20/State Highway 183 (Southwest Boulevard) at CTP. Construction of the remaining project sections is underway. The entire CTP project is anticipated to open to traffic in mid-2014.

Community meetings planned to focus on construction activity in south Fort Worth

The NTTA will host two meetings on Feb. 7 for those interested in learning more about the Chisholm Trail Parkway and construction activity through southern Tarrant County.The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the Fort Worth Academy, 7301 Dutch Branch Road.

In addition to the general community meeting, a meeting specifically for area business owners will be held at 2 p.m. at the Forth Worth Academy.

During the presentations, attendees will learn about the project and the anticipated construction schedule.

The NTTA has hosted similar meetings with businesses and neighborhood groups in the Interstate 30/downtown Fort Worth and Hulen Street bridge areas of the corridor.

Traffic switch now in place along Dutch Branch Road

The eastbound lanes of Dutch Branch Road between Harris Parkway and Oakmont Trail will be closed daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through early February. All traffic will be redirected to the westbound side of Dutch Branch Road, with one lane open to traffic in each direction. Crews will begin constructing the culverts that will cross Dutch Branch Road.

All closures are subject to weather conditions and will be postponed, if necessary.

The NTTA appreciates the public's patience during this construction and reminds everyone to use extra precaution while driving through work zones.

TxDOT plans traffic switches near the Interstate 20/State Highway 183 Interchange

As Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) crews continue to work near I-20 and SH 183, several traffic switches will be necessary, including:

Beginning Friday, Feb. 3

The Insurance Lane bridge will be closed to traffic so that crews can construct the SH 183 main lane detour. In addition to the bridge closure, the eastbound exit ramp from SH 183 to Insurance Lane will be closed.

Beginning Friday, Feb. 10

Crews will switch traffic from the existing SH 183 eastbound main lanes to a detour. As part of this switch, the contractor also will open an entrance ramp from the SH 183 eastbound frontage road to the main lane and restore access from Bryant Irvin to eastbound SH 183/I-20.

Beginning, Friday, Feb. 17

Crews will switch traffic from the existing SH 183 westbound main lanes to the detour route. Both east- and westbound traffic will be detoured and traffic will no longer be able to travel under the Insurance Lane bridge.

Beginning Monday, Feb. 20

Crews will begin demolishing the Insurance Lane bridge. This bridge will eventually be replaced by the future northbound Chisholm Trail Parkway frontage road bridge over SH 183 that connects to Insurance Plaza.

The $117-million access improvement project at I-20/SH 183isin preparation for the future SH 121/Chisholm Trail Parkway. The project will construct several new bridges, access ramps and new SH 121/Chisholm Trail Parkway frontage roads as well as lowering and rebuilding the SH 183 main lanes. Completion is scheduled for spring 2013.
