Cutter Aviation Joins Sales Force
CUTTER AVIATION has proudly signed on as the newest member of the American Champion sales network in the U.S.

Founded in 1928 by William P. Cutter, Cutter Aviation is one of the oldest and most respected names in the Southwestern aviation community.  With seven FBO locations located in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Colorado, Cutter Aviation is also one of the largest aviation service companies in the Southwest, providing not only new and pre-owned aircraft sales, but also full service aircraft fueling, aircraft maintenance and avionics service for single engine piston through multi-engine turbine aircraft.  With such a sizable portfolio of services and over eighty-two years of experience to boot, it's easy to see that Cutter Aviation is truly in the business of serving general aviation!

Now under the leadership of third generation President and CEO Will W. Cutter, the Cutter legacy continues to thrive and grow, supported by a team of "Cutter Crew" at all locations who are passionate about aviation and dedicated to providing all customers, big and small, the red carpet treatment.  The same values upon which William P. Cutter built the business on in 1928: trust, integrity, and respect - for not only customers, but also each other, remains the standards by which they operate today.

The American Champion product line joins Cutter Aviation's existing new aircraft dealerships for Piper Aircraft in Texas, Daher-Socata (makers of the TBM 850) for the Mid-Southern US region, and the Southwestern dealership for the upcoming HondaJet.  The addition of American Champion Aircraft to Cutter Aviation fills a unique niche in the sales portfolio that the company identified a need for in the Southwest -- first-time aircraft owners and sport pilots looking for an economical aircraft using a well-proven design that's perfectly suited for the diverse and exciting landscape around the Southwest.  With more sunshine and clear VFR weather than any other US region and potentially thousands of unique and fun backcountry flying adventures within the      area, American Champion Aircraft are a great fit.

With Cutter Aviation's full-service approach, new owners have the entire package of Cutter services in maintenance, fuel, hangarage, and avionics service to back them up!  A one-stop-shop!   With convenient locations in Phoenix, AZ (PHX-Sky Harbor and DVT-Deer Valley); Albuquerque, NM (ABQ-Albuquerque Int'l Sunport); El Paso, TX (ELP-El Paso International); Dallas, TX (TKI-McKinney-Collin Co. Airport) and Colorado Springs, CO (COS-Colorado Springs Airport), owners and pilots in the Southwest are never far from the Cutter Aviation experience!

From the management and staff of
American Champion Aircraft

a hearty "welcome aboard" to Cutter Aviation
as the newest member of the ACA family!

"Dear Wing"
Taildragger Q & A's
Q.  Dear Wing,
Is the Scout certified for IFR?  What will the Forward Vision EVS do for the Scout?

A.    Yes Bob, the Scout and Explorer are the two IFR aircraft produced by American Champion.  Per type certificate data, both require a heated pitot tube in, addition to the normal IFR equipment, to be flown IFR.
The Forward Vision System improves safety during night VFR or IFR circling approaches.  It increases the chance of finding a field at night should the engine quit.  It can reduce runway/ taxiway/ramp incursions.
It is an extremely valuable tool for night flying and other condition where visibility is limited.

Bob Dietrich - Scout Adventurer
Super D Ribbon Cut    Bob Dietrich loves to fly and camp with his new Scout.   Last month Bob winged his way to  Mt. Shasta, CA for a needed vacation. Bob is a highly experienced bush pilot and understands the value of his Scout when flying to the back country.  Bob knows his way around Alaska too.  If you are looking for the adventure and learning experience of a lifetime, consider joining Bob next summer on a exclusive adventure to Alaska.  The following is a description of the trip and a link to contact Bob.

"I'm planning a Scout (need 70 gal. tanks) trip to Alaska from mid June to mid July next summer 2011.  I lived and flew in the bush in Alaska for 22 years as a wildlife veterinarian.  I have flown the route to or from Alaska 19 times over the past several years.  I plan an almost entirely camping trip both along the way and into the bush in Alaska. It would be necessary to fly single pilot with camping gear making up the rest of the airplane load. I'd enjoy having one or possible two Scouts accompany me. More would not work out as some areas are privately owned. If you are interested, please contact me via email at Bob's Email Address. It should be a fun and interesting trip. No extreme strips - most dirt or gravel."

      The Super Decathlon Turns 40!!!
The first Decathlon was built in 1970.  Bellanca Aircraft Company built 640 Super Ds before American Champion purchased Bellanca assets in 1986.  American Champion built its first Super Decathlon in 1991.

Forty years after being introduced, she sports a bigger engine, metal spars and numerous other enhancements.

The only certified fully-inverted aerobatic aircraft in its class, the "Super D" remains a favorite of aerobatic pilots world-wide.

Check out two spiffy Super Decathlons at the American Champion display during Oshkosh EAA AirVenture 2010. Stop by and say "Happy Birthday"!
