Greetings!

Welcome to the April edition of my Coaching Newsletter.

              Anzacs

I hope that those of you in Australia have enjoyed a lovely long weekend for the Easter holiday which coincided with Anzac Day this year. It's been a time of reflection for those who celebrate Easter, a very special time of remembrance for the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps who fought at Gallipoli in Turkey during World War I and all who served and died in military service.  I was fortunate to participate in the Japan Tsunami Appeal golf charity event hosted by Wakehurst Golf Club this week - a very successful event which was so well supported. The dedicated and hard working committee raised a significant amount to help the Japanese people at this difficult time.

These thoughts and events lead me to remember and reflect on what I have learned from my friends and colleagues from so many countries and cultures over the years and how the respect for diversity contributes to effective communication, tolerance and understanding.   Therefore I'd like to share with you some entertaining and enlightening information on Cultural Differences this month.  I also reflect on challenges I've experienced and the challenges of those I am close to and those whom I coach. My article on Resilience  could be helpful to you if you are experiencing challenge in your life right now.  On another note, I've recently conducted a number of Personal Branding and Image workshops in Brisbane which were very well received and think you will enjoy 'Your Personal Brand - How to Make in Impact That Counts' and also my free e-book on how to Dress for Success.

You may have wondered why this newsletter is coming at the end of April instead of the beginning.  I spent the first week of  April in the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, playing golf in that beautiful part of the world and spending time with a group of wonderful golfing friends.

Then I was up in Brisbane a couple of times for the first of a series of workshops for a new corporate client and also coaching many individual career transition clients who have been inspirational for their positive attitude and creative ideas for the next step in their careers.  This, combined with time off for the Easter break, means that I am combining April and May for this newsletter (I'm not being slack really, just enjoying some work/life balance!)

I'm creating a new suite of workshop offerings. Is your organisation in need of effective and inspirational training for your staff?  Style Success offers educational, fun and motivating sessions/workshops in image management, executive stress management, career management, business etiquette and confidence building.  Have a look at our workshops  that can be tailored to suit your specific needs.  Interested?  Email me for more information!

Be inspired to live a life filled with meaning and clear direction.  Feel empowered to achieve your personal and professional goals.  If you are at a cross road in your life regarding your career, relationships or personal direction here is where you may find the answer.  Enjoy!

Globalisation and Cross Cultural Differences

globalisation

Globalisation - what does it really mean to us in our daily lives?  To me, it means that the world is flat.  It means the opening of international markets for the trade of goods, services, and operations.  It also often means the export of jobs and cross-border transactions and disputes.   The ease of air travel and the interest to explore other countries for work or for pleasure means that we encounter cultural diversity constantly in our personal and professional lives.  This, in turn, means that we need to understand and accommodate diverse cultures in order to ensure effective communication and minimize misunderstandings.

Resilience - How Do I Get Through This?

Wall and Waves

I've been in situations when the thought, "How Do I Get Through This?"  went through my mind.  How was I to withstand this situation? Sometimes it was said in curiosity, other times it was said in fear and anxiety, and there were times when I said it in anger.  No matter how awful the situation was at the time (and there have been some dreadful ones!) somehow I got through it.  Read More ...

Your Personal Brand -

How to Make an Impact that Counts

You have seconds rather than minutes before someone decides if they will do business with you. Their first impressions will decide whether they think you are respectful and taking any situation seriously.

There are Five Essential Components of Your Image to consider:  Hidden, Assumed, Visual, Experienced and Proven.

                 Aspects of Image

The impression you project depends a lot on what you believe about yourself, your past experiences and what fear may be holding you back from presenting at your most confident.
