Amazing Crew
When a family emergency took out 4 crew members just hours before our Valentine's Day cruise, we were worried. But 3 phone calls later and a bartender, 2 deckhands, a hostess and an extra captain jumped in to fill out the crew. Boy did we feel the love on Valentine's Day from our crew!

Greetings!

February has certainly been an exciting month! Never before have we seen this much snow piled up in Havre de Grace. As much as we love adventure, we're a bit weary of s-n-o-w! But the good news is that none of our cruises  have been affected by the weather, snow or ice.

This month you'll notice a common thread throughout the newsletter - great people! We are so thankful to be surrounded by so many amazing folks.

Sincerely,
Carroll & Becky Fitzgerald

Super Sailors!

We wanted to honor the one special person who'd sailed with us most often. To our surprise we found a tie for that honor. Both of these ladies had been with us on 5 cruises. And of course they both brought guests with them each time. Congratulations to Cheryl Kemp and Georgiann Gaeth, our most frequent guests. Both will receive a gift certificate for a dinner cruise for two as a token of our appreciation. Look for more rewards for loyal Lantern Queen guests.
Ice & Snow

Below are some February pictures of the Lantern Queen. Note the "ice skirt" around the the gunnels. I couldn't get photos of the large balls of ice that formed on the paddlewheels and rudders. Due to the warm water discharged from Peach Bottom Nuclear Power Plant, the effects of Conowingo Dam, and the fast running water of the river, we seldom get significant icing on the Susquehanna River. But, just across the upper Bay we could see a line of demarcation between the Bay's water, and the Elk River's ice.
