John Hall posted his career best ET and speed with his 6.864/194 mph run against LE Tonglet in Round 1 at the Auto-Plus NHRA Nationals. This was also a team best ET for Star Racing.

AMERICUS, Ga. - Despite several mechanical problems over the weekend, the Sovereign-Star Racing team still managed to post a career best elapsed time (ET) and speed for racer John Hall during the postponed Pro Stock Motorcycle elimination rounds for the Auto-Plus NHRA Nationals in Reading, Penn.

Hall's teammate Scotty Pollacheck also managed to hold onto his No. 7 spot in the NHRA Full Throttle Series Countdown to the Championship after he broke a pushrod on his motorcycle during Round 1 eliminations Monday.

After two challenging days of qualifying for the Sovereign-Star Racing team, Sunday's elimination rounds were postponed until Monday due to rain.

Hall, the No. 12 qualifier, was matched with No. 5 LE Tonglet for Round 1 eliminations and posted his career best ET and speed with his 6.864/194 mph run against Tonglet's redlight foul.

As the No. 11 qualifier, Pollacheck faced No. 6 Matt Smith during Round 1 eliminations and led his opponent to the 1000-ft. marker. Even after his motorcycle broke halfway through the race, Pollacheck still managed to post his best time of the weekend with his 6.937/173 mph run.

"John's run was really exciting for us, especially since Scotty was four-hundredths faster than that when he broke a pushrod in Round 1.

"Scotty's bike broke at 4.9 seconds into the run, and he just coasted through the back half. Judging by his numbers, he was getting ready to go a 6.82 easily before the break. That's why I think we're actually doing better than our results showed this weekend."

Pollacheck admits his disappointment at having to let his opponent cruise by for the Round 1 win.

"It's one thing to break. It's another to break when you're in front of the guy and you have him beat. When you're sitting where I was and hoping he doesn't come by you, it's pretty frustrating. That's what happens sometimes in racing, though, and it's good knowing that everyone on the team did their job with the tuning and I did my best driving," Pollacheck said.

In Round 2 eliminations, the team's previous mechanical issues presented problems once again as Hall was forced to forfeit his run against No. 4 qualifier Hector Arana Jr.

Like his teammate, Hall was also able to ...
