I'd like to thank everyone who took time to vote, particularly given many Bronxvillians' continuing struggle with power outages, and damage to their homes. Bronxville faired better than other communities; a testament to luck, and the preparation & diligence of our Village Government and the services they provide. We are happy we have such a strong team locally to advocate on behalf of all Village residents. Congratulations to Anne, Bill, and George. They are very dedicated individuals and we greatly appreciate their service to Bronxville.
Although this was not a contested election, we did have folks who took the extra step to absentee vote. It is most heartening when one sees citizens exercise their right to cast a ballot, which leads to my next point on taking steps to ensure our freedom, liberty and prosperity.
People have been writing in to us about President Obama's health care initiative. Most of us are fully aware this plan has little to do with health care, and everything to do with power and control. The messy and shameful tactics the Administration and legislators are using to achieve their goal is also a cause for concern.
There are some simple steps our residents can take. It will only cost you a wee bit of time (It's St. Patrick's Day!). Make the call - call our US Senators and our US Representative and voice your displeasure with their stance on this nation-altering vote. DC lines were shut down yesterday - not to worry - I personally enjoy calling the local numbers. Why? You can actually have a conversation with a person, enough calls - like a poll-- can communicate vulnerability to an official, and finally, you may just open that local office staffer's eyes to the error of their ways.
You can also call our state officials and ask them "How are you intending to insulate New Yorkers from the devastating effects of this healthcare plan? Virginia and over 30 other states have plans to protect their residents. The costs of this plan will bring New York, and New Yorkers to their knees... so what's your plan?"
Finally, Obama on Fox today? It will be interesting to see how he attempts to tailor his message to the Fox audience. How many speeches has he already made in the past year? He has been 'abundantly clear' - this is a gross abuse of power, an arguably unconstitutional action, and a step towards the destruction of our republic.
