As you may know, Bronxville Village will hold its election March 16, 6 am - 9 pm at Village Hall. Many people may feel it's inconvenient or inconsequential to vote in our local elections, but local elections significantly impact your day-to-day life. A glance at your tax bill is testament to that reality. Democracy is a gift our forefathers granted us, one we have upheld both here and across the world. To note, Iraqis turned out this week, under threat of death, at a rate of 65%. In great contrast, we hope you will take the time to amble over to Village Hall and pull the lever.
Aside from the Republican line, Bronxville Village candidates Anne Poorman [Trustee], Bill Barton [Trustee], and George McKinnis [Village Justice] secured the Citizens for Fiscal Responsibility line in the upcoming March 16 election. The bipartisan support speaks volumes on the prudent efforts made by these individuals, on behalf of the Village.
Despite significant economic and political stressors - a worldwide recession, unfunded county and state mandates, and ever-growing tax burdens, Bronxville has maintained a superior financial rating. The work and decisions positioning us thusly are daunting and difficult, yet all branches of our Village Government, led by Mayor Mary Marvin, have worked seamlessly to achieve that goal. Much work lay ahead as tax burdens are forcing more long-term residents to leave Bronxville; we greatly appreciate our candidates' willingness to serve.
The Republican Committee is most pleased with the recognition of fiscal responsibility and restraint as a common goal among Villagers who may not be enrolled in our Party. We have strived to seek candidates who indeed work on behalf of all Villagers, regardless of voters' party affiliation; this endorsement is a testament to that effort.
We hope you will consider donating to our Committee. We have taken a very active role in electing candidates to the Eastchester Town Council, our new County Executive, Rob Astorino, and are currently vetting candidates for the 18th Congressional District, to unseat Nita Lowey. Your input, time, and/or dollars will go a long way in helping us achieve our goals.
