The Women's Treatment Center Presents

A Mother's Journey of Recovery
The rate of incarceration of women in Illinois has dramatically increased over the past four decades, due primarily to harsher punishment for non-violent offences. Currently, 14,000 women serve time in Illinois prison, leaving 35,000 children behind. Tearing women from their families and giving them little or no access to proper rehabilitation services creates not only distress for the family, but also disquiet for community.
The Women's Treatment Center invites you to learn more about its alternative sentencing program for mothers serving non-violent drug-related sentences. Run in conjunction with the Decatur Correctional Facility, the program allows mothers to complete the final two years of their prison sentence while living with and caring for their children at The Women's Treatment Center. In the past three years, this program has shown a 0% recidivism rate compared to the 48.2% recidivism rate for women reported by the Illinois Department of Corrections.
