MarriageTeam is a non-profit that provides marriage coaching services throughout the greater Portland/ Vancouver metro area.  All coaches are Christian couples.  Coaching is different than counseling and is designed to help couples create specific agreements about how they will do life differently to get different results. 

The issue is we are all born onto separate teams (our families) and we learn the plays that work in our family of origin.  Some families have better playbooks than others.  Nevertheless, we get married, create a new team, but bring our old playbook and do not share it effectively with our new teammate.  Therein lies the problem.  Different playbooks that center around different expectations and ways of dealing with issues create havoc on the new team.  Marriage coaching helps couples create a common playbook.  No one is right or wrong, we are just different and each couple needs to work out what will work best for their team.  Couples attend 8 to 12, 2-3 hour sessions once a week with a coach couple all for only $160.

Couples who complete the program love it and rate their experience a 9.1 on a scale of 1 to 10.  Furthermore, distressed couples who complete the program report an average improvement in their relationship of 180% (comparing how it was before to after coaching).  Listen to four couples share their experiences with coaching.
