| Greetings! | |
Hi
I apologise for the absence of the newsletter last month. My life has been filled with many changes and time seemed to have shrunk, however the whirlwind of the last 6 weeks is settling and time seems to be now expanding.
I have moved my business to a new home - the old Valhalla cinema in Glebe and I look forward to seeing you in this new space. This is a funky building that has been converted into a number of creative studios. As well as being a beautiful space to do healing work and teach from it will also feature original artwork by Toni Carmine Salerno and be a stockist for Blue Angel Publishing.
My business name has changed to The Mystical Tree, the newsletter will still be called Celestial Spiral and for the moment the website will still be www.celestialspiral.com. From the 1st of May 2010, I will be offering private consultations, 2 meditation classes a week, a monthly Reiki practise evening and a monthly psychic circle as well as courses in Reiki, Magnified Healing and reading Tarot and Oracle cards.
The Celestial spiral is the creative process of ideas, thoughts and information flowing from the heart of the Universe, The Mystical Tree grounds these thoughts and ideas as the branches of the tree catch them through the rays of the sun, the beams of the moon and the Universal Life Force. It then anchors the thoughts, ideas and light into us all and Mother Earth for the healing, love and growth of all people and all things.
The Mystical tree is an oasis, nurturing and assisting those who are asking different questions of life, as they seek a greater meaning and purpose. It is a door way into an enchanted forest of all possibilities, revealing and unfolding a path of self discovery, growth and transformation.
This month's newsletter is around change and transformation, traditionally this time of year is about change and already this year has brought big changes for me and for many others. Kali has been around me and in my dreams, it is also the celebration of Wesak, Samhain and tonight the 28th April, sees a full moon in Scorpio, and the last meditation I will be doing at Phoenix Rising Books.
Full Moon In Scorpio
The Full Moon in Scorpio is a magical time of regeneration and rebirth. As we go through the great cosmic shift of 2010-2012, much in our lives is dying in order to be reborn. We are healing and regenerating, according to ancient cycles of the stars, gods, and humans.
Wesak
Wesak is the full moon in the sun sign of Taurus (which is actually the full moon of Scorpio). It is the time chosen by Buddhists for celebration of Buddha's birth, enlightenment, and in some traditions, his death. His life is honored during this full moon by millions of devout Buddhists. Some make the treacherous journey to the actual Wesak Valley high in the Himalayas where they gather to chant and pray, important parts of a traditional Buddhist Wesak celebration. We can use the opportunity of this most powerful time to learn new things, heal old wounds. It is also said that Wesak full moon is that time of the year during which the Christ gathers the entire Spiritual Hierarchy together in meditation to invoke the forces of Shambhalla. The Buddha, representing those forces, appears and blesses humanity. In groups or individually we gather to collectively act as conduits for these blessings from the spiritual realms. We can consciously open our hearts and minds to new knowledge and healing. It's a time when enlightened beings of all kinds come together to collectively focus their highest energies toward the conscious evolution of our species and our planet. Every living thing benefits from this outpouring of intention.
Samhain (one of the eight Sabbat celebrations)
Samhain falls on April 30/May 1and in the Northern Hemisphere it falls on October 31st, also known as All Hallow's Eve, Halloween. This is a time of reflection, of looking back over the last year. This is the time when the boundary is thinnest between the worlds of living and dead; the powers of divination, the Sight, and supernatural communication are strengthened on Samhain night. this is a celebration and acknowledgment that without death, there can be no rebirth.
Kali is a Hindu goddess often seen as scary and dark. This months meditation is about Kali and what she represents. You will see her in a different light as we look at her erratic life and see that it represents the breakdown of ego identities in order to free our souls for enlightened beginnings.
I am learning to embrace change, for it is constant - much easier said than done at times. All that comes to us, does so to remind us we are much stronger that we think we are. Infinite possibilities lay in wait and the energy of creative change is the catalyst that
illuminates the way to our heart, love and truth.
Namaste, Denise
I know God will not give me anything I can't handle. I just wish that He didn't trust me so much. ~ Mother Teresa

| Sabbats |
Pagans, Wiccans and all who connect and work with Mother Earth, celebrate the cycle of seasons in eight festivals know as Sabbats
The Sabbats originated in the Northern Hemisphere, here in the Southern Hemisphere these dates are brought forward six months so as to coincide with the natural seasons as they occur in their local climates.
There are eight wiccan sabbats or witches sabbats per year. They are based on seasonal changes and traditional harvest dates.

Transformation
To participate actively in transformation means to be fluid, flexible, adaptable, and yet to stand firmly in one's sense of oneself. This is of course easy to say and not so easy to do. Faced with this demand for transformation, many people cling rigidly to old belief systems, old habits, old personality structures and patterns and find themselves in conflict with other people who are clinging to their belief systems, their familiar way of being in the world.
How do you become ---new? Can one be reborn, not into another body, but into a new way of being in the world? It can seem like an impossible task when the very self that is seeking to free itself from the old patterns has been conditioned by those very same patterns. People can feel as though they are going in circles, wanting change, resisting change, praying for change, fearing change. This is why it is important to open yourself to new information, information that challenges your belief systems, that causes you to examine and investigate your ideas about the nature of the self, the world, the universe.
This information can come from study, meditation, therapy, travel and communication and dialogue with another. It can come from experiencing ordinary events in a different way, seeing ordinary things in a new light. This new information can come from asking yourself in any given situation "What's really going on here? How many different ways can I understand this? How can I see this differently?" New information can come from self-inquiry, from the question "Who am I?' Questioning is a powerful tool for transformation, especially when you don't try to find an answer, when you simply look from many different perspectives at any given situation, when you open your mind and heart to a different point of view.
How does one find that which remains constant? How does one find the ability to flow with the change? There are two key words, ones that we have repeated many times. Love and Awareness. Loving attention to oneself, to the moment, to the circumstances of one's life and to others can become a constant. Awareness of one's own ups and downs, one's reactions, one's choices, can become a constant. Awareness of the flow, the change, can become a constant. The possibility of experiencing the presence of Love, the presence of Awareness, is there in every moment. As one develops the ability to return to the presence of Love, the presence of Awareness, one experiences a continuity, a flow, a constancy in the midst of change.
Kali
Kali, the Great Mother Goddess of the Hindu tradition, is the Source, the One that gives birth to All. Known as a slayer of demons, She destroys the army of mind-born delusions symbolized by demons that separate us from the Divine as our own true Self.
The Great Goddess Kali can never be understood by the intellect. She and the essence of what she symbolizes are beyond the mind. Don't be surprised if your rational mind rebels and wants to go no further! Poets and mystics advise us that in order to know her we must plunge into her luscious, radiant, blackness, dive through our fear of the unknown, into her overwhelming mystery and allow ourselves to dissolve in her velvety midnight embrace.
Kali as the Goddess of Time and Change Despite the connections with death and destruction, Kali is worshiped by believers as a positive goddess of time and change. Author Doreen Virtue claims, "Kali is the ultimate get-things-done goddess...she'll push you beyond your comfort zone to reach the heights of your potential." As a spiritual support, Kali can be invoked to help others understand the natural cycles of birth and death. She acts as a guide to help those in need to remember that change is necessary, and from endings come new beginnings.
Kali as Creator and Destroyer In her most famous myth, Kali is summoned by the goddess Durga in an effort to help destroy Raktabija, a demon that produces clones of himself. Kali defeats the demon and his duplicates by rolling out her tongue to capture droplets of blood before they reached the ground, the method by which the replica demons manifest. She ultimately sucks the blood from Raktabija's body and wins the battle. Symbolically, Kali characterizes destruction or letting go of the past to make room for a more purposeful present and future. She stands for the concept of Mother Nature as not only a potent, destructive force but also a force that cleanses away the old to allow room for new, fertile ground.
Mother Goddess Kali MaIn another myth, Kali is dancing on the battlegrounds after an encounter with demons. She is portrayed in an out-of-control frenzy, and drunk on the blood of her slain victims. To stabilize the world and to calm Kali, Shiva is sent out on the battlefield as a crying infant. Kali hears his distress and comforts him by picking him up, kissing his head, and breastfeeding him. Hinduism reveres this maternal aspect of Kali while the Western world often fears her violent form.
Meditation Exercise: Relax your mind and body. Focus on breathing deeply and slowly. Allow the thoughts that come into your mind to leave, leaving a quiet, dark and safe space within. Feel the earth beneath you and the universe above you.
Far off in the distance you see two swirling lights. They are red and orange, like fire. You don't feel frightened but are intrigued and curious. Move slowly towards the lights, watching as they get bigger and brighter. You get nearer and see that within the swirls are two figures. They are Kali and Shiva, the deities of changes, nature and transformation. They smile and wave, beckoning you closer. They have a message for you. Enter the reflections of the swirling light and bask in the pure energy of these two beings. It is a wonderful feeling, very physical and exhilarating.
Spend some time enjoying these feelings.
When the time is right, allow Kali and Shiva to give you a gift. It may be in the form of an object, advice, a feeling or a memory.
Thank Kali and Shiva, and step out of their light. Say goodbye and return to the present, to your physical surroundings. Write down your experience, as you will probably want to think about it over the next few days.
The Mantra Om Kali Ma The mantra "Om Kali Ma" vibrates with her power and serves as a Divine vehicle for transporting you into Her domain. Using it for meditation, you breathe in Om Kali Ma with every inhalation, silently repeating it in your mind, savoring the subtle sounds of each syllable as She infuses every cell of your body with Her power, radiance and love. With every exhalation, silently breathe out Om Kali Ma, feeling her presence filling the universe around you. Breathe in Om Kali Ma drinking in her elixir. Breathe out Om Kali Ma as you float like a bubble in the ocean of the Divine. Your body may be gently swayed by her lullaby as the ego-mind falls asleep and the Divine awakens within you.
