Did you know?
Say cheese! The calcium and phosphorous found in cheese is healthy for your teeth - it reduces the pH level in plaque and re-mineralizes the enamel.
Did you also know that
more people use
blue toothbrushes
than red ones? Now you know! |

Greetings!
Well, summer is officially over. School is back in session and some of us may even be counting down days to the holidays! While students are busy learning skills that will help them make decisions and set goals for their futures, we are learning more about dental health and are anxious to pass this knowledge on to you. We know how important maintaining optimum dental health is to keeping mind and body sharp, focused and healthy. So enjoy the beautiful fall days and be sure to take time to make your smile just as a beautiful. Be sure to look over the special offers included in this newsletter. We look forward to seeing you in our office. |

Seal Out Tooth Decay Has your dentist ever recommended sealants for you or a family member? What exactly are they? What is their purpose? Do they hurt to get? Sealants are thin plastic shields that cover the surface of the molar teeth. These teeth have pits and grooves that trap food and bacteria that are hard to keep perfectly clean, giving cavities a chance to develop there. By putting sealants on these teeth, you are sealing out tooth decay.
Delmarva Dental Services is offering 20% off sealants for the months of October and November. See all our offers at the bottom of this newsletter! |
Do you take my insurance? Insurance is easily one of the most confusing subjects for some. There are so many variables that it makes it hard to know what is covered and what is not. Will it let me go to to a provider that is participating or non-participating, in or out of network? What is the difference between a DHMO, PPO or Traditional plan? Why don't they cover more than they do? The list of questions could go on and on. We, at Delmarva Dental Services, have always been and always will be a non participating provider. We wish to be able to provide the best, high quality care for our patients. As long as your insurance plan will allow you to go out of network, we can work with it. Get Pick-y
There are a lot of ways to keep your teeth clean. Some are very good, but some habits and ways we have acquired to clean out stuff that is stuck in our teeth are very bad. A common, but bad way to pick your teeth, is with the common wooden toothpick. Why? It has a very sharp point that can do more damage than good and it can also splinter. Bypass toothpicks for cleaning teeth and keep them for testing cakes. Don't use things that were not meant to clean teeth with like knives! Some people have done this with dire consequences! Some good things to clean between teeth besides floss are proxabrushes, stimudents that not only clean the teeth but stimulate the gums, softpicks, and flossers. Ask your dentist what is best for you!
The best way to keep and maintain a healthy smile is by brushing at least twice a day, preferably with an electric toothbrush, flossing and regular visits to your dentist. Another great way to keep teeth clean is with a WaterPik. Now you have a chance to win one from Delmarva Dental Services! Just reply to this newsletter with your name, address and phone number. Must be 18 years or older to win. Winner will be notified via phone and/or email on or around December 22, 2011. The winner's name will be announced in the winter newsletter. The winner consents to use of their name and photo in our newsletter. One entry per person will be accepted. No substitutions permitted. Winner will be determined by a random drawing from all submissions received. Enter today! |
