| Good news, bad news about insurance offers on TV |
. Low price TV ads confusing and often misleading
. We offer competitive rates and
discount programs
. Work with an insurance professional
The bad news: many TV commercials and Web sites feature "price-only" pitches. Price-only advice is bad advice when it comes to buying insurance. As insurance columnist Bill Wilson wrote recently, "We should be presenting ourselves as insurance and risk management professionals, not William Shatner knock-offs...insurance is designed to protect our assets from direct loss or third-party liability. What and how much we buy depends on our exposure to loss and what we need to protect, not what we are willing to pay." The good news: there is a difference between coverages and benefits when company insurance policies are properly compared on a needs and value basis. Call us first for a competitive quote based on your REAL needs..

Why buy renter's insurance? | |
. You are NOT protected by landlord's policy.
. Your personal possessions are worth more than you think
to replace
. Typically costs less than $200 to $250 a year
The slumping housing market and graduates entering the work force and setting up their first apartments have resulted in a rental market boom in the state. Yet the percentage who buy renters insurance remains low. Many renters think that the landlord's insurance covers them. Not so. Renters policies provide coverage for personal property (most renters have more contents value than they think until they do an inventory), and usually includes certain items stolen from your car. Most policies also include $100,000 or more in personal liability coverage.

| New ATV safety regulations | |
. All ATVs must now be registered
. Ask us if you have enough liability protection
The Massachusetts Legislature, responding to alarming rates of injury and death, has passed a bill improving safety regulations for operators or all-terrain vehicles (ATVs). The bill requires ATVs, off-road motorcycles and snowmobiles to be registeredand all operators to wear helmets. It alsoprohibits anyone under the age of 14from operating an ATV unless it is for a sanctioned race supervised by adults over 18. To review your liability limits, call 781-245-0007 or 800-688-8750 or e-mail John Gregorio. Ask about a personal umbrella policy. |
| NEWS & NOTES | . Oct 1st: No-texting for drivers law in effect. Sending or reading e-mails and text messages - even at red lights - carries fines of $100 to $500. The law also makes it illegal for anybody under 18 to use a cell phone while driving. Everyone else is free to use their cell phones for calls. Hands-free devices, such as Bluetooth, are recommended.
. Uninsured motorist coverage is critical. According to a report by the Insurance Research Council, 1 in 6 drivers in these economic times are probably driving UNINSURED, despite the penalties and threats of arrest. Protect yourself. For information on this coverage or to check your limits, call 781.245.0007 or 800.688.8750 or email John Gregorio for details.
. Wood-burning stove safety tips: The best wood to use is hardwood; clean your chimneys or stoves pipes at the start of each heating season; never use flammable fluids such as gasoline or kerosene to start a fire; never store combustible items near your stove; use a metal container for ashes and allow ashes to cool completely.
