Here are some basic steps you can take to protect your property, data:

GPS devices big target for thieves

"Smash and grab" thefts are on the rise
. Protect yourself with simple steps

Global Positioning Systems (GPS) are a hot sales item for retailers these days.  And a hot item for thieves as well. They are easy to steal and they sell easily on the street or the Internet.  Hiding your GPS in the glove compartment or under the seat won't work. The pros spot a mount or suction cap circle and do a "smash and grab" entry assuming the GPS is somewhere in the vehicle.

Take these loss prevention steps: lock your vehicle, remove all valuables when leaving your vehicle, and alarm your vehicle (and put an alarm sticker on the window.)

INSURANCE PROTECTION: If you are not sure if your
homeowners (or renters) insurance policy covers the loss of a portable GPS device, call: 781-245-0007 or 800-688-8750 or e-mail John Gregorio.
NEWS & NOTES

. Light color cars have a lower crash rate.  A recent safety study reported by Parade magazine indicated that black cars have a 12% higher crash risk than light-color cars during daytime driving and 47% higher rate at dusk or dawn!  If you are considering purchasing a new car, call us first. We can provide information on which models cost less than others to insure.

.  Power mower injuries. Safety officials report that over 70,000 children and adults are injured by power mower accidents every year.  Most frequent accident causes: trying to unclog blades by hand or with a tool; and children falling off riding mowers or out of carts towed behind.

. Personal Injury coverage is a must today.
There's a new problem today: risky online behavior. It can expose users to potential slander, libel and copyright infringement lawsuits.  Users need to take extra care abut the tweets, blogs, and e-mails. If you don't have Personal Injury coverage on your homeowner or renter policy now, we strongly encourage you to add this low-cost endorsement immediately.  Especially if you have youngsters who are super-active online.
