Heparin is a commonly used anticoagulant and interferes with endotoxin detection (1).
BioDtech, Inc. has developed a patent-pending process to eliminate heparin interference in standard endotoxin assays. The following table summarizes our ability to recover an endotoxin spike in samples treated with the new heparin digestion process as compared to no treatment or treatment with divalent cations and salt. Each treatment was performed in 10 replicates using 14 unit/ml heparin in water.
BioDtech now offers heparin digestion as part of our endotoxin detection service. Endotoxin detection in samples requiring no special treatment cost $100/sample and includes triplicate testing. Treating samples to remove interfering heparin or proteins cost an additional $100/sample. A 10% discount is given for orders including 10 or more samples.
