NCAA and Samaritan's Feet Bring Hope to Thousands!
Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels and IUPUI Head Basketball Coach Ron Hunter wash the feet of children.

The Samaritan's Feet "Barefoot for Bare Feet" program culminated the week of the NCAA Final Four when college and high school coaches joined hundreds of Indianapolis volunteers to wash the feet of children and put a pair of new shoes on their feet.
Throughout the month of January 2010, 3,000 coaches around the country coached a game in their bare feet to raise awareness and shoes for Samaritan's Feet. Many of the barefoot coaches had an opportunity to witness the fruits of their labor by personally giving away the new shoes to children in need.
"2,010 For 2010" was the theme for the week-long shoe distributions, with 2,010 children receiving shoes through a partnership among Samaritan's Feet, the NCAA, Indiana Sports Corp, and the 2010 Final Four Local Organizing Committee.
Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels who previously supported Samaritan's Feet at a barefoot press conference, joined local volunteers to bring joy and hope to children in Indianapolis.
"We are extremely pleased that coaches and Governor Daniels served the community of Indianapolis and used their platforms to provide a voice for those children world-wide who have never owned a pair of shoes," enthused Manny Ohonme. "Their involvement at the Final Four has moved this event to a new level in our ongoing global mission to reach the world's neediest children with the gift of shoes." |

Eagle Scout Matthew Conte named Samaritan of the Month!
Matt Conte (middle) with volunteers at his Samaritan's Feet shoe drive |
Matt Conte first became acquainted with Samaritan's Feet while working on a shoe drive through the Campus Ministry office at his school.
He was struck not only by how many shoes are collected but also how Samaritan's Feet serves those in need through the washing of feet and personally spending time with each recipient.
As a Boy Scout, Matt chose to organize a shoe drive for Samaritan's Feet as his community service project to advance to the rank of Eagle. With the permission of his pastor, Matt coordinated a drive for shoes, socks and monetary donations at Resurrection Roman Catholic Church.
According to Matt, "I had modest expectations for the drive, so I was instantly blown away by the support of the parishioners! After the third weekend Mass on Sunday morning, we had collected 110 pairs of shoes, 170 pairs of socks, and nearly $800 in donations! For several weeks afterwards, shoes and socks kept trickling in and I had to send a second shipment to Samaritan's Feet."
Matt credits the success of his shoe drive to his church family for their generous donations, his parents for helping with promotion and shipping logistics, and his dad's boss who covered shipping costs.
Because of Matt's passion to help the impoverished and his exemplary accomplishment for Samaritan's Feet, we have designated him our Samaritan's Feet Volunteer of the Month! Congratulations Matt!
Will YOU become our next Samaritan of the Month by organizing a shoe drive in your community? The process is simple and the need is great. Please find out more by clicking SHOE DRIVE! |

A Special Easter in Peru!
On Easter Day, the poverty-stricken area of Brena, Peru received a special gift from Pastor Samuel Santa Maria and his group of 100 volunteers. One thousand impoverished children and adults had their feet washed and were provided with a new pair of athletic shoes through Samaritan's Feet.
The team of volunteers went barefoot themselves as they worked tirelessly to connect and pray with each individual shoe recipient. Even the local policemen (badly in need of shoes themselves), received new shoes (see picture below). Over 2,500 people lined up for the 1,000 shoes available.
The work continues in Peru as Pastor Samuel and his Samaritan's Feet ambassadors head to the Women's Prison in Chorillo to bless the inmates with not just shoes, but with love and encouragement. Can YOU partner with us for $5, $10, or more to change the lives of those who have so little? Click HERE to Make a Difference! ___________________ |
