Fast Morning Smoothie!
Have you ever
woken up wishing breakfast could be fast like cereal but nutritious like a
power packed smoothie? Here is your solution! Put all these
frozen fruits in your blender the night before and then put the blender full of
the frozen fruits/yogurt in your fridge. It will slow thaw through the
night. Simply blend in the morning! It will still have the texture
of a frozen smoothie with no time needed in preparation that morning!
Here is our power packed favorite smoothie!
This smoothie is power packed because you have strawberries,
blueberries, peaches for A, C, B1. B2, vitamins; bananas for potassium; yogurt and milk
for protein. If you still need sweetener for your smoothie add xagave or
honey to taste.
All frozen fruits!
1 cup chopped strawberries 1 cup chopped peaches 1 cup blueberries 1 banana 2 cups plain yogurt 1 cup milk Remove from fridge and blend! How easy it that? Enjoy.

New Grains for our Diet!
In continuing the series on different grains, I will feature the common grain: rice. There are several different types of the plain rice: white, brown, long brown, short brown, par-boiled, wild rice. So what is the different between all these different grains of rice? Which is the best? How do you cook fluffy rice? Hopefully, I can do a quick short lesson on the common little grain to help answer those questions. On a side note, this grain falls into the Gluten Free category!
Types of Rice: Brown Rice (long and short): When the rice
comes in from the field, the hull is removed and the result is whole
brown rice. In this unprocessed state, whole brown rice offers a natural
concentration of vitamins and minerals, including potassium,
riboflavin, [B.sub.6], niacin and thiamin, and it still has its bran,
which is a natural fiber.
White Rice (long and short): Manufacturers remove the bran by
polishing the hulled rice. Ninety percent of white rice made in the
United States is then enriched with powdered nutrients. Really this is not the rice you should use. FDA regulations claim that all the nutrients are back via powdered nutrients but this is not the nutrition your body needs.
Parboiled Rice: The
process of parboiling rice originated
from south India where steam was passed through the grains with
the husks on. The
nutrients are embedded into the grain during this process. Parboiled white rice is 80%
nutritionally similar to brown
rice The
rice is polished after the steaming is done. This results in more nutritious rice than white
rice and more digestible
rice than brown rice. Parboiling makes
parboiled rice an almost indestructible kernel. Parboil rice does
not easily take up moisture when over cooked and does not get mushy. Parboiled rice can be boiled with excess water and then
drained.
Wild Rice: These rice plants grow in shallow water in small lakes and
slow-flowing streams; often, only the flowering head of wild rice
rises above the water. This type of
rice has a thick bran layer that is coated with a waxy layer. It
is very
difficult for moisture to penetrate these layers. Requirements for
cooking
and soaking times are longer,
but the
cooking process remains the same.
Cooking brown, wild, parboiled rice: These types of rice need to be soaked over night and
then cooked with 1 part
rice and 2 parts salted liquid for 20 minutes. Steam for 5
minutes before serving.
Rice Flour: Use your Nutri Mill to grind the rice into fresh flour. For those with gluten intolerance, you will now have fresh rice flour with all the nutrition as opposed to the costly rice flour at the health food store where the nutrition has oxidized out of the rice flour. A Hannah creation!
2 cups plain yogurt 1 cup milk 1/2 cup honey or xagave (click here for sugar substitute) 1 1/2 cup frozen strawberries 1 1/2 cup frozen blueberries 1/4 tsp. almond extract
Nanaberry Shake
from: 1-2-3 Smoothie (click here to learn more) 1 cup milk 2/3 cup apple juice concentrate 1 tsp vanilla 2 frozen bananas 6 large strawberries 6 ice cubes
Blend in order. For thicker shake keep blending to minimum! You can add 1 1/2 tsp flax seed and 1 Tbs protein powder for a power packed smoothie.
Berry Blueberry Malt
from: 1-2-3 Smoothie (click here to see smoothie book)
6 almonds 2 cups milk 1/ 1/2 tsp. vanilla 2 Tbs malted milk powder 1 cup frozen apple juice concentrate 1 1/4 cup frozen blueberries 1 1/2 cup frozen bananas

Note from Paula: When blending your frozen fruits you need to cut them in small chunks as fruit is fibrous. The frozen banana will be like a tough rope and strawberries are fibrous rocks.

Customer Corner

I'm excited to get the new Bosch, I talked briefly with you about my
"stretchmarks" I get on my bread at the convention last weekend, I used
your dough enhancer with my kitchenAid Sunday, and NO stretch marks!!!
and by the way my kitchenAid "turned off" after 10 minutes of kneading
this batch, so I had to turn it off for 30 minutes before I could knead
some more (to cool the motor down I guess), and my hands just weren't
doing it! So then my dearly beloved husband agreed it's time to make
this purchase! So I think God opened this door for me and I'm not gonna
miss out! Thanks again.

Tips for the Harried Woman
Have you ever been stressed out? Even the small things of life seem to be closing in on you. I have wondered when the clock would slow down or when the brush fires would dim. It hasn't happened yet and the wheels of time seem to be spinning faster than the coolest fan.
Sometimes I have needed help to cope with these moments. Worship to our sweet Jesus is what calms my soul and brings the harried moments to a slower pace. There are really only 4 different music artist that I use to accomplish this much needed quietness for those harried moments. Maranatha music is my all time favorite to bring rest to my soul and really peace to our home. When I notice the kids bickering or discord in our home, praise music brings a peace to all. God tells us in His Word that He inhabits the praise of His people. Let His praises permeate you and your home.
