Welcome to Paula's Bread

Dear Fellow Bread Lovers,

We are in the full swing of lazy summer days!  I hope you are enjoying a laid back summer as is my family.  Hot weather and simply the thought of summer makes one think of lighter meals.  We have been enjoying making quick light meals with an emphasis on cool!  We have made a lot of blender drinks with complete protein to avoid a hot oven.  Check out some of our family fun recipes that we have tried this summer!  Enjoy the season and each day God gives us!

God bless you,
Paula :)

What can the Bosch Blender Really do?

Bosch Universal Plus BlenderMany have wondered the power of the Bosch Blender and what exactly could they blend with it.  Is it a worthwhile accessory?  Too many have had the counter blenders that never really blended properly and simply took up space on the counter.

The Bosch Blender is not your average counter blender.  You will be able to make wonderful smoothies, crushed ice, protein drinks, graham cracker crumbs, chop nuts, and much, much more!  Many have asked how it compares to the Vita Mix.  The Vita Mix is a great machine but it doesn't really blend the food well.  Thus, Vita Mix gives you a plunger to mash the food down to get to the bottom blender blades.  The Bosch blender genuinely swirls the mixture in the blender giving you a full mixing of your drink.  The Bosch blender does a great job blending/mixing your food.

The biggest advice to be given for the Bosch Blender is starting the blender before you fill it with food or ice.  Usually what makes a blender break is cramming it full then turning the motor on.   Just as trying to run in water is difficult, cramming the food in the blender is forcing the blades to turn while the motor is immediately put at a high speed.  Best is to start the blender then, add the food products or ice.  Frozen fruit need to be chopped before putting it in the blender due to fruit being so fibrous.  Cutting the fruit in smaller chunks will prolong the life of your Bosch Blender.  It is a fabulous addition to your Bosch Kitchen Mixer and you will love the drinks you will be able to create.  See below our recipe for banana shakes!

Summer Recipes

'Banana Shakes'
by Rita Bingham "Natural Meals in Minutes"
1/4 cup milk powder (we use protein powder)
2-3 frozen bananas
2 cups milk
1 T pure vanilla extract
2 T honey (or Xagave)
15-20 ice cubes

Blend all ingredients until smooth. Remember to turn you blender on before adding ingredients.  If you want to make popsicles, increase honey to 1/4 cup, and pour into popsicle molds or cups.  Freeze till solid.
This is a heavenly treat.  We spoil ourselves by adding whipping cream and chocolate syrup as garnish.

'Strawberry Protein Shake'
via my hubby Robert!
3 cups of strawberries
1 banana
1 cup of  vanilla or strawberry yogurt
3/4 cup whole milk
3 T ground flax
30 grams (1 scoop) protein powder

You can substitute the strawberries with peaches or frozen triple berries we found at Sam's!  If your fruit is frozen it is like eating ice cream. Yum!

'Bosch Blender Quiche'
via my friend Carlene W.

1/2 cup whole wheat flour
4 eggs
3 T Butter
2 cups milk
1/2 t salt
1/2 # grated cheese
1 chopped onion (optional)
crumble bacon (optional)

Put all ingredients in blender and mix well.  Pour into 9" buttered pie pan.  Bake 400 degrees; 30-40 minutes.

Homemade - Nutritious - Tasty
This describes the foods you can prepare using the products and equipment from Paula's Bread. We really like ordering wheat for grinding and SAF yeast for baking bread as well as oatmeal, coconut, almonds and raisins for making granola. It is SO nice to have bulk foods on hand when we live out in the "country" like we do! The cookie hooks for the Universal Bosch have been a great addition to the use of our machine. We have a wish list for stainless steel pans and bake ware and look forward to adding to our kitchen equipment. Thanks, Paula, for your integrity and kindness.

Tips for the Harried Woman

Running the daily rat race of life can make you wonder "have I any accomplished anything today?"

You always hear how we spend our days putting out the small fires when there is a forest fire behind us.  Let me share with you one of my ways to work on my forest fire of life. :)

I am the queen of lists!  Even as I rise in the morning for my devotions, I keep a blank paper by my side.  As 'to do' items hit my thoughts, I write them down to keep from distracting my quiet time.  When I finish my devotions, I review the list and prioritize my list from the forest fire to the small fires.

This simple task has given me a lot of freedom as I keep focused on what needs to be done that day and great feeling of accomplishment as I get to check 'done' the tasks!  I find it really fulfilling to list those I have to call; each errand to run; which items I want to clean in the house.

With lots to check off, I have the sense of accomplishment for the day and more courage to face another list the next day.  Start checking off those 'to do' items today!
