Dear Carolina parent,
This weekend is Parents Weekend at the University of South Carolina, and we are excited to welcome many families to campus! If you registered for Parents Weekend, you should have already received an e-mail with the final details.
Next Thursday, Oct. 8, is the official midpoint of the fall semester and the start of fall break. Many students will be planning a trip home or to visit with friends from another University. Flu update
The number of confirmed cases of H1N1 flu on the University of South Carolina campus is low. All cases have been mild, and business and classes are being conducted as usual. University officials continue to work closely with local, state and federal public health officials in preparing our campus and are prepared to handle situations that may arise. Students are being cared for at the Thomson Student Health Center. Student health officials expect to receive the H1N1 vaccine in October and will follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines for distributing the vaccine. In the meantime, the seasonal flu vaccine is available through Student Health Services. We urge everyone to monitor www.sc.edu/flu for the latest information from the University. Please encourage your son or daughter to get the seasonal flu vaccine immediately, follow routine prevention procedures, eat well, get plenty of rest and exercise, be aware of flu-like symptoms and to contact Student Health Services if they become ill. |
