Greetings!
An action plan is beginning to reveal itself. Yesterday, Evan and I had the good fortune to spend an hour by phone drafting a sources and uses budget for our food co-op with Bill Gessner. Gessner is lead consultant with Cooperative Development Services and has had more than 20 years experience assisting retail and wholesale cooperatives with planning and expansion projects. Read more here.In one short hour we were able to rough out the first draft of a project budget which will allow us to make important determinations for creating a successful food co-op. As we move forward to our goal the board has made the commitment to finish the business plan by the end of February.
This means that NOW is the most important time for committee work.
Some important things need to get accomplished over the next month and as the old adage goes, "Many hands make light work!" I invite you to participate!
Our product section committee (meeting Tuesday, Nov. 2 at 5 pm) is charged with the task of conducting a member survey as it could pertain to the blueprint for our food co-op.
Meanwhile, the finance committee (meeting Wednesday, January 27 at 5 pm) is working on a member loan program and the loan application process.
As always the outreach committee (meeting Wednesday, February 3 at 5 pm) continues to seek creative ways to invite more people to join our ranks.
Warm Regards, Mary Christensen Communications/Outreach Chair and Secretary of the Board
