Greetings!
There is so much good news I can hardly wait to share it with you all.
First, we have a new office located downtown at 542 4th Avenue Suite 100 B. You will find us in the basement below the Vet Center.
Office hours are Tuesday through Friday from 1 to 5 pm.
This space gives volunteers a place to focus on the project of opening OUR co-op grocery store in 2010.
And that brings me to my second bit of good news. Our newest volunteer is from the VISTA program, Evan Daigneault.
Evan comes to us most recently from Montana and he is dedicated to one year of work helping to develop our co-op.
Third, our financial team is working on an application for the food co-op 500 sprout fund loan program.
Now, are you as excited about opening a new food co-op as I am?? Well, to open a food co-op we need YOU.
October is time for our membership drive to kick in to overdrive.
Reaching our membership goal is the first step to a successful bid for funds through other sources.
Do you want to see this food co-op open? You can help, first, by updating your membership.
Secondly, by helping us with our call drive to update our database.
Volunteers are welcome to stop by any time during office hours to pick up a call list or discuss your ideas.
Or you can help by volunteering to assist with a committee.
Two committees with important work to do now are our store design and operations committees because we need to get cost estimates ready for the business plan.
A joint meeting of these two committees is planned for Wednesday, October 14 at 6 pm in our new office.

A Volunteer in Service
Thanks to Americorp's Volunteer's in Service to America (VISTA) program, FCCM now has a dedicated volunteer assigned to the task of helping us grow our membership and get this food co-op off the ground.
Our Vista volunteer, Evan Daigneault, comes to us from the coast of Maine by way of Bozeman, Montana where he obtained a degree in Environmental Studies from Montana State University.
Evan is a veteran of small business since his early years. During the 8th grade he started his own lobster company. His life as a summer time "lobsterman" in Rockport Maine lasted for 8 years until he sold the business while in college.
He has recently moved to Fairbanks, drawn by an avid interest in snowmobiling and winter recreation and now lives with four cats in a small cabin outside of town.
Evan will be working with our board of directors to coordinate volunteers and assist with our membership drive.
