Your Capital Investment
The process for setting up a co-op is fairly simple. All we have to do is go to a bank to seek funds and search the world wide web for grants and voila, there will be a food co-op in Fairbanks. But, to go to a bank the Fairbanks Community Cooperative Market (FCCM) needs to have member equity funds FIRST.The Communications/Outreach committee has been given the mission of raising member equity funds so that we can go to a bank with a business plan and a request for more funds. Our goal is to raise $100,000 in membership equity funds by November 1, 2009. Your economic participation will go a long way towards helping us realize this lofty goal. A one-time capital investment of about $200 (exact amount will be put to a vote at our annual meeting) is all that it will take to get this project off the ground. If you are ready to invest at this time there are a couple of easy ways to do this. The easiest is to go to our website and click on the Pay Pal button. Another easy option is to send a check or money order and a self-addressed stamped envelope to Fairbanks Community Cooperative MarketPO Box 81765Fairbanks, Alaska 99708
Your capital investment in the Fairbanks Community Cooperative Market means that you own a local business, have a say in how it's run, and join a vital part of the Fairbanks community. You'll have access to locally grown and organic products in one central location. For those of you who are already FOUNDING MEMBERSwe have a record of your name and your founding member ticket number so if you have any questions about how much you already contributed toward your member equity please reply to this email. As Dave Lacey used to say, "Why not invest in Main Street instead of Wall Street." Your investment in FCCM is not only an investment in Main street it is an investment in YOUR grocery store. The kind that you want to shop in. |

How to Volunteer and What Needs Doing.
We need Volunteers! Plain and Simple! To open a Food Co-op in 2010 we need an army of volunteers. Many hands make light work! But how do you volunteer? It can be as simple as taking one small task like being the "TWITTER MASTER" or the person who puts names into our databases. Or join a committee and share your expertise. For a list of the committees and contact persons click here. If you are interested in volunteering you can contact Helen McClean at 488-6973 or email risse@alaska.net.
