The 13th Annual Conference jointly sponsored by the Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons and Lyme Disease Association, is being held in Philadelphia, PA on September 29-30, 2012.

The Lyme Disease Association is promoting a special fund raising campaign to benefit the Columbia Lyme and Tick-Borne Diseases Research Center.  Please help the LDA provide funds for Columbia to unlock the secrets of Lyme disease by making a contribution today.  Simply go to our donation page and choose the Columbia Lyme Center campaign.  

 

The LDA believes research will lead to a cure and wants to help the Center as much as possible.  No amount is too small - we are all in this together!

PAUGWONK DAY 5K "FLICK THE TICK"

 

Treasure Hill Farm invites all for a brand-new 5K cross-country race across the wooded trails and pastures of Treasure Hill Farm, with all proceeds from the race to be donated to the Lyme Disease Association (LDA).  

 

Registration forms can be found at Active.com.  Sign up early and bring some friends and raise some money for the LDA!

 

THEN, AFTER THE RACE, IT'S...

 

The Paugwonk Celebration: a new historical festival designed to promote a better understanding of Salem and southeastern Connecticut in the 18th Century! The Celebration will feature an appearance by members of the 6th Connecticut Regiment, who will demonstrate 18th century Arms, Uniforms, Drilling, and more! Admission: $5 per adult, $3 per child 6-12, children under 5 are free. Race participants enjoy a 10% discount!

 

The  LDA is an all-volunteer national nonprofit, 501 (c) (3), (has never had employees), dedicated to Lyme disease education, prevention, raising monies for research, and patient support. It has been accepted into the 2012 Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) which recognizes it as an approved charity for federal workplace giving. It is also a Guidestar.org exchange member, recognized for its transparency in operations. LDA is an Environmental Protection Agency PESP Partner and offers LymeAid 4 Kids program for children without insurance coverage.

 

LDA-funded research has been acknowledged in 25 peer review journals to date, and LDA is presenting its 13th Lyme &Tick-Borne Diseases scientific conference jointly sponsored by Columbia University in Philadelphia in 2012. The faculty are comprised of national and international researchers in the field of tick-borne diseases and attendees can receive Continued Medical Education (CME) credits. LDA is associated with 43 Lyme organizations nationwide a loose network called LDAnet, with LDA as the umbrella organization. They are working together to make a difference for Lyme patients. In 2012, LDA developed an electronic billboard ad featured in Times Square, promoting the awareness of chronic Lyme disease throughout the world.  The LDA was invited to testify before the Foreign Affairs Committee, Africa Global Health and Human Rights Subcommittee in Washington, DC in 2012 (click here to view & read testimonies).
