Dear Art Festival Friend and Supporter:
Happy Thanksgiving from everyone at the Sausalito Art Festival Foundation! Thank you for the supporting the 59th annual Sausalito Art Festival held over Labor Day weekend. Once again our world class artists showcased their talents to an enthusiastic art buying crowd. We danced to the tunes of the Human League, World Classic Rockers and what a way to end the weekend....Kenny Loggins!
It's a great time of the year here at the Sausalito Art Festival Foundation as we prepare for the awarding of the Leonard Kaprielian Community Grants in December. These grants range in size from $1000 to $20,000 and are awarded to Sausalito-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations. In addition, we begin accepting artist applications on December 6, 2011 for next year's Festival. For further information on how to apply, please visit our website sausalitoartfestival.org
We are looking forward to our 60th Anniversary next year. If you have any old photos or memorabilia of the Sausalito Art Festival, please forward it to us. We'd like to share these memories with our art loving audience. It's going to be year round celebration of our rich history here in the Sausalito community.
On behalf of the Sausalito Board of Trustees and Staff, thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Demetri Rizos

Sausalito Art Festival Foundation Awards Leonard Kaprielian Community Grants

In 1991, Leonard Kaprielian began volunteering for the Sausalito Art Festival pouring beer. Leonard's background as owner of the Jolly Friar English Pub in San Francisco, for over twenty years, was a perfect fit for him to become "Festival Beverage Czar." Leonard quickly took on the responsibility of coordinating all on-site beverage deliveries and sourcing deals for the Festival. The site for beverage distribution is now referred to as "Leonard's Lane," as a tribute to our pioneering trustee.
After retiring, Leonard applied his teamwork skills to community service here in Sausalito. His many volunteer projects became the joy of his life. Leonard has twice been named 'Volunteer of the Year" by the City of Sausalito, and he has also been honored with a "Spirit of Marin Award" for his volunteerism in Marin County.
The Sausalito Art Festival Foundation Board of Trustees has named the annual community grants after Leonard in honor of his contributions to our community. The awards range from $1000 to $20,000 for local nonprofits based in Sausalito, and will be awarded at a ceremony on December 8. The mission of the Sausalito Art Festival Foundation is to encourage, promote, and support the arts for the community, and the Leonard Kaprelian grants are a key way to make that a reality.
