E-NEWS FROM YOUR LOCAL UNITED WAY
Kids Doing Schoolwork

Greetings!

Advancing the common good is less about helping one person at a time and more about changing systems to help all of us. We are all connected and interdependent. We all win when a child succeeds in school, when families are financially stable, when people are healthy and have enough to eat.

No other organization has the scope, resources, or expertise to unite and mobilize a powerful portfolio of United Way direct service programs and funded agencies throughout MetroWest to support a common vision for advancing the common good. Your continued support of United Way has more impact than it ever could through any other single cause, agency, or charity.

United Way's goal is to create long-lasting changes by addressing the underlying causes of these problems. Living United means being a part of the change. It takes everyone in the community working together to create a brighter future.

Champion the Cause. Be the Change.

Pearl Street Cupboard & Café Almost Ready to Open

At a time when many of our neighbors and friends are either unemployed or underemployed a large, comprehensive community food pantry that provides "wrap around" services can be both helpful and timely.

Volunteers from local Unions, Corporations, and Community Organizations have opened their hearts and lent their hands throughout the renovation of the Pearl Street facility, contributing over 3,500 volunteer hours and close to $65,000 in in-kind donations to United Way's Food Security Initiative. Community Partner Spotlight

At Baypath Elder Services, Inc. a team of dedicated staff devotes their energy every day to enabling older people to live independently and comfortably in their community for as long as possible, while preserving their well-being and dignity.

But there is another group of people that also dedicates their lives to caring for elders: the caregivers. These men and women spend each moment of their day ensuring that their loved ones are cared for, a job that is extremely demanding and, at times, frightening. And they can't do it alone. More...
Women's Alliance Touches Many 'Soles'

Red shoes of various styles filled the room as women and girls of all ages stepped out for an evening of emotion and inspiration, designed for local  women in the MetroWest community.

The Ruby Slippers Fundraising and Networking Gala was a celebration of the investments made by the Alliance in woman and girl related programs in the community this year, as well as the connections the Alliance's networking opportunities have led to. But mainly the event celebrated the women and girls in Metrowest. Read more.

Volunteer Spotlight
Karl Helberg

After recently retiring, Framingham native Karl Helberg decided that his new job would be to lend a hand in the community by volunteering. He connected with the Volunteer Center at the United Way after reading about the ongoing need for volunteers at the new Pearl Street Cupboard & Café in his hometown. He's been volunteering with our organization ever since, and has devoted many hours to helping us prepare for the Cupboard's grand opening. Thank you Karl for your continued support!
