UPS holds Annual Golf Classic to Benefit Local United Ways

On Monday, July 11, 2011, over 100 golfers gathered at the Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston, MA to take part in the annual UPS Golf Classic to Benefit the United Way. The golfers braved the heat and took their shots at winning a 2-year lease on a 2012 BMW Coupe, $100,000 cash, and many other fantastic prizes.  The tournament raised close to $27,000, all of which will be distributed to local United Ways to benefit their communities.

Community Impact

In 2010-2011, we were able to positively impact almost 30,000 people in MetroWest.  We would not have been able to make such a significant difference in the lives of so many families and children without your continued involvement and support of all that we do.  By opening your hearts to those in need, you have helped us help so many others.

Check out these charts for a breakdown of where your investment has made an impact in the last year:

MetroWest Women's Alliance to hold First Annual Ruby Slippers Celebration

The MetroWest Women's Alliance, a collaborative effort of the United Way of Tri-County and the MetroWest Chamber of Commerce, is proud to announce its signature fundraising event of the year: the First Annual Ruby Slippers Celebration. This not-to-be-missed event will be held at The Massachusetts Horticultural Society's Gardens at Elm Bank in Wellesley. Keynote Speaker Mina Samuels, author of Run Like A Girl, will be sharing her new book with women from all walks of life. Her inspiring book, recently highlighted on the Today Show, brings to light the stories of numerous women who have found empowerment through sports, as each personally confronted an array of challenges.

Leaving a Legacy:

Not all estate gifts are complicated or require the help of an attorney.* For example, here are three easy ways to make an estate gift simply by filling out a form:

  • Make United Way of Tri-County the beneficiary of your qualified retirement plan, such as an IRA, 401(k), 403(b) or SEP. Just fill out a Change of Beneficiary form from your plan provider.
  • Make United Way of Tri-County the beneficiary of a checking or savings account upon your death. Ask your bank for a Payment On Death form.
  • Make United Way of Tri-County the beneficiary of a life insurance policy. Again, just fill out a Change of Beneficiary form. Or, if you don't need the policy anymore, transfer ownership to United Way now, and you may qualify for an income tax deduction.*
